Preservatives are substances that help extend the life of your beauty products. They fight bacteria, yeasts, fungi and moulds in cosmetics by stopping them from multiplying for a certain period of time. They are needed wherever you add water to your products. However, these properties predispose them to be poisonous or toxic in their pure state, their dosage in cosmetic products is minimal.
Iscaguard IAF is an aqueous blend of naturally derived fruit acids, suitable for preserving rinse and rinse-free products. It has a broad spectrum effect against bacteria, yeasts and moulds. This preservative contains non-GMO propaneediol of natural origin, which increases the effectiveness of the preservative and provides better skin hydration. Iscaguard IAF is the perfect choice when formulating skin-friendly products.
We recommend it in the formulation of shampoos, shower gels, body lotions, facial products including around the eyes and lips and also products for children.
Add to recipes at the cooling stage and stir thoroughly (longer than other preservatives) to make sure it has dissolved well.
It is fully soluble in water and glycols.
Do not heat to more than 80°C.
the pH of the final product should be between 2 - 5.5, it loses its effectiveness at a pH approaching 7.
Recommended dosage: 0,5 - 1,5 %
