Product description
The glass medicine bottle with a white lotion pump with a capacity of 10 ml is used for filling and dispensing small quantities of creams, serums and lighter emulsions. White glass filters light, so light-sensitive contents are not exposed to daylight on the shelf. The PP pump releases the contents without you having to reach into the bottle with your fingers, which in a small pack saves product and limits contamination during everyday use. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
What it is for
The 10 ml volume suits products that are used sparingly and dispensed in small amounts:
- Eye creams and contour creams – one press of the pump releases roughly 0.14 ml, an amount appropriate for the eye or lip area.
- Concentrated serums and active creams – with ingredients used at higher concentrations, the small pack is used up before the scent or colour of the contents has time to change.
- Trial batches and samples – when developing a recipe, it is useful to fill a small set, leave it in ordinary use for a few weeks and observe how the formulation behaves during dispensing.
- Travel size – you can transfer a finished cream from a larger container into a bottle with a pump, which takes up less space.
The lotion pump is designed for medium-viscosity emulsions. It cannot draw up very firm balms or butters, and with thin, almost watery contents it may dispense unevenly. We recommend checking the behaviour with your specific formulation on one filled unit.
How to use the set
Before the first filling, the bottle and the pump are washed, disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and left to dry completely. Residual water in the bottle would dilute the first doses and, with anhydrous products, would introduce moisture where it does not belong.
The bottle has a nominal volume of 10 ml and a total brimful volume, which you will find in the parameters. The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for during normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical space up to the neck. The difference between them forms a reserve for the dip tube and the pump mechanism and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. For this reason, fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents will overflow when the pump is screwed on.
The dip tube of the pump is longer than the height of the bottle. Before fitting it, shorten it so that it reaches just to the bottom without resting on it or bending. The pump then draws up even the last remnants of the contents.
After filling, screw the pump onto the neck and prime it by pressing it several times until the dip tube and the piston fill with the contents. The first doses come out unevenly, which is normal with every new pump.
Good to know
Do not fill the glass with a hot emulsion straight from the pot. Let the cream cool to at least room temperature. A sudden change in temperature may crack the glass, and the warm contents would condense on the walls of the closed bottle.
The pump is made of polypropylene and is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend filling one unit as a trial and checking after several weeks that the pump does not stick and that the mechanism still seals.
The packaging can be reused. Before each new filling, the bottle is washed and disinfected in the same way as before the first use. Rinse the pump with warm water and pump clean water through it several times to flush the residues out of the dip tube and the piston. When changing to contents with a different scent or colour, it is more reliable to replace the pump.
Glass and the plastic pump are separated for recycling, and each material belongs in its own collection.
Closures with the same neck finish as stated in the parameters, and ready-made combinations of the bottle with another closure, can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend checking the seal, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
