Product description

An amber glass medicine bottle with a capacity of 10 ml and a black fine mist sprayer form a ready-made set for small quantities of liquid cosmetics that you want to apply as a spray. The dark glass reduces exposure to light, so it is particularly suitable for contents sensitive to UV radiation: perfume compositions and fragrance samples, facial mists, toners and hydrosols, alcohol-based solutions, or travel-size packs of larger products. The sprayer disperses the liquid into fine droplets, so the contents are dispensed evenly and without your fingers touching the neck of the bottle.

The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Only the glass medicine bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact. The set with the sprayer is intended for cosmetics.

What it is suitable for

  • Perfumes and fragrance samples – alcohol-based perfume solutions, travel-size decants of a favourite fragrance, testers for customers.
  • Facial mists and toners – hydrosols, toners with solubilised essential oils, refreshing sprays for your handbag.
  • Alcohol-based and water-based solutions – hair sprays and other low-viscosity formulations.
  • Samples and recipe testing – when developing a new formulation, simply fill the bottle with a small amount and check how the product behaves during application.

The sprayer works with thin liquids. Oils, thick serums or emulsions with higher viscosity will not pass evenly through the nozzle. For these, a dropper or a pump is a better match for the same medicine bottle.

Filling and using the sprayer

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful capacity, given in the parameters, is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dip tube with the sprayer fitted and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Therefore, fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

One press of the sprayer releases approximately 0.14 ml, which for perfume solutions or mists corresponds to a single application. After filling and screwing on the sprayer, press it several times to prime it until the tube fills and the nozzle starts to spray continuously.

The dip tube of the sprayer is longer than the height of the bottle. Before fitting it for the first time, shorten it so that it ends just above the bottom. The contents are then used almost to the last dose and the tube does not bend inside the medicine bottle.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the medicine bottle, disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and leave it to dry completely. Rinse the sprayer with clean water or alcohol and spray it through a few times so that no residues remain in the tube.

For alcohol-based perfume solutions and formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils, we recommend checking how the sprayer behaves with your specific recipe. A short test in one bottle before larger production saves you problems with sealing and dispensing.

Do not heat the glass abruptly and do not pour hot liquids into it. Thermal shock can crack the medicine bottle. Let the contents cool to room temperature before filling.

Closures with the same neck finish as the medicine bottle, as well as other ready-made packaging and closure combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. If you combine parts yourself, check the seal with your specific formulation. At the end of their life, separate the two parts: the glass goes into glass recycling and the sprayer into plastics.

Frequently asked questions

Does an amber glass medicine bottle with a sprayer protect the contents from light?
Yes, amber glass reduces exposure to light and slows the changes in the contents that light causes. It is therefore suitable for perfume compositions, hydrosols with essential oils and other liquids whose fragrance or colour changes in light. The packaging protects against light, not against heat. Therefore, do not leave the bottle in direct sunlight.
How much liquid fits into a 10 ml medicine bottle with a sprayer?
Fill it to the nominal volume of 10 ml. The physical volume up to the neck is larger, but the reserve is left free for the dip tube of the sprayer and for the expansion of the contents. If the medicine bottle is filled to the brim, some of the liquid will overflow when the sprayer is screwed on and the sprayer may not seal properly.
Is the plastic sprayer suitable for alcohol-based perfumes?
Yes, a polypropylene sprayer is commonly used for alcohol-based solutions, including perfumes. For recipes with a high proportion of essential oils or other solvents, we recommend checking the behaviour of the nozzle and the seal with your specific formulation in one bottle before you fill a larger batch.
Can the glass medicine bottle with a sprayer be reused?
Yes, after washing and disinfecting with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, the glass medicine bottle can be reused. Rinse the sprayer with water or alcohol, spray it through a few times and check that the nozzle sprays evenly. If it starts to drip or leak, replace it with a new one with the same neck finish.
Can I fill this set with oils or thick serums?
No, the sprayer is intended for thin liquids. Oils and viscous serums will not spray evenly through the fine nozzle and may clog it. For oil-based products, a dropper or a pump with the same neck finish is a better match for the same medicine bottle, and you can find them in the Handymade range.
Is the medicine bottle and sprayer set suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is not declared for food contact. Only the glass medicine bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact; the plastic sprayer does not have one. The whole assembly is therefore intended for cosmetic products, for example perfumes, toners and facial mists.
