Ambre Glass Bottle, Glossy Silver White Pump, 100 ml

The amber glass medicine bottle with white and silver pump is a ready-made combination of packaging and closure for 100 ml of cosmetics that are dispensed in small amounts. Amber glass dims light and so protects contents that are sensitive to oxidation, for example face serums, vegetable oils, fluid emulsions or light face lotions. The pump with a glossy white and silver closure releases a small dose when pressed, so no more product than necessary is taken into the hand, and fingers and air do not get into the bottle during use to the extent they do with a wide neck.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The bottle on its own also has a certificate for direct food contact, but the pump does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

What it is suitable for

• Serums and concentrates – a small dose per press corresponds to the usual amount of serum for the face, and the amber glass protects light-sensitive ingredients.
• Face oils and oil blends – liquid oils pass through the pump without problems, and the dark glass protects them from light.
• Fluids and light emulsions – thin lotions, light moisturising emulsions or primer bases that are not thick.
• Cleansing and make-up removing oils – dispensing with one press is more convenient at the sink than pouring from the neck.
• Hair serums and oils for the ends – a small dose prevents using too much, which with hair oils weighs the hair down.

This pump is not suitable for thick creams, butters and products with particles (scrubs, powder additives). A pump with a thin tube is built for liquid to slightly viscous contents.

Filling and volume

The nominal volume of 100 ml is the amount the bottle is intended for under normal filling. The total brimful volume given in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them provides room for the pump tube, for the air above the surface and for any expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it were filled to the neck, the contents would be pushed out through the thread when the pump is screwed on.

One press dispenses approximately 0.14 ml. You can work with this figure when writing the instructions for use, for example one to two pumps of serum for the face and neck. The actual dose depends on the viscosity of the contents and tends to be smaller with thicker fluids.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, rinse it, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Rinse the pump by placing the tube in clean water and pumping several times, then pump without any liquid and let it dry. Residual water in the tube does not belong in an anhydrous oil or serum.

Glass withstands hot water and sterilisation, but it may not tolerate sudden temperature changes, so do not pour a hot emulsion into a cold bottle. Fill the finished product only after it has cooled to room temperature. The pump has plastic and aluminium parts and does not belong in hot water or in a steriliser.

For contents with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, we recommend checking how the pump behaves with your specific formulation. The plastic parts of the mechanism may react to some ingredients differently than glass, which is inert in this respect. Before filling the whole batch, leave a sample in a filled bottle for several weeks and observe the tightness, the dispensing and the appearance of the pump.

The bottle is reusable and can be filled again after washing and disinfection. The pump can be used again after cleaning if it seals and dispenses evenly.
