The set of an amber glass medicine bottle with a volume of 30 ml and a white and silver glossy treatment pump is packaging for products that are applied in small doses and should not come into contact with air with every use. Amber glass filters light, so it is suitable for serums, facial oils and concentrates with active ingredients sensitive to UV radiation. The pump dispenses approximately the same amount with each press, the contents do not spill, and when applying the product you do not touch the neck or the rest of the product.

The term medicine bottle refers to the shape of the bottle, with a straight body and a low neck; the contents can be any cosmetic product. The neck measures 18 mm and the pump is included in the set. The white plastic of the pump is complemented by a glossy aluminium part, so the packaging looks clean even among other products on a shelf.

What it is suitable for

• Facial serums – both water-based and oil-based, dispensed in a few drops for the whole face.
• Oil blends and elixirs – vegetable oils with active ingredients, where amber glass slows down oxidation caused by light.
• Light emulsions and fluids – liquid to medium-thick textures that the pump can draw up through the dip tube.
• Samples and travel packs – the 30 ml volume fits into a cosmetic bag and does not leak.
• Alcohol-based skin preparations – glass does not react with alcohol; check how the plastic parts of the pump behave with your specific formulation.

Dispensing and filling

One press dispenses approximately 0.14 ml. The actual amount depends on the viscosity of the contents and on whether the dip tube is completely filled. A pump with this output cannot draw up thick creams and balms.

When filling, distinguish between the nominal and the total volume. The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume of the glass up to the neck and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them forms a reserve for the dip tube of the pump and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill only up to the nominal volume, otherwise part of the contents will be pushed out when the pump is screwed on.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the pump, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Rinse the pump by pumping clean alcohol through it and then water. Any residual moisture would otherwise dilute the first doses of the product.

The set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The certificate for direct food contact applies only to the glass bottle on its own; the pump does not have it. The set with the pump is therefore intended for cosmetic products, and we do not recommend it for homemade oils or syrups.

The pump combines plastic and aluminium. After the first filling, observe for several days whether the contents change and whether the pump head returns smoothly after being pressed. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, check how the plastic parts tolerate long-term contact with the contents.

After thorough washing, the glass can be reused many times and belongs in glass recycling. Unscrew the pump before recycling the bottle, because it combines plastic with aluminium.
