Product description

A small amber glass medicine bottle with pump for filling with facial serums, oil concentrates and other liquid preparations where an accurate dose matters. Amber glass reduces light exposure, so it suits contents sensitive to oxidation, such as vegetable oils or serums with vitamins. The pump, in a glossy white and silver finish, dispenses a dose without tilting the bottle and without your fingers touching the product.

A volume of 10 ml is enough for trial batches, customer samples or travel packs. The set includes both the bottle and the pump, and the thread matches, so you do not need to look for a closure separately.

What it is suitable for

  • Facial and eye serums – both water-based and oil-based, where the product is dispensed in small doses and the packaging should protect the contents from light.
  • Facial oils and oil blends – the pump dispenses an even dose even from thin oils, which run quickly out of a dropper.
  • Light emulsions and fluids – liquid to slightly viscous textures that pass through the tube and valve of the pump.
  • Samples and test packs – a small volume for comparing formulations or for sample packs.

Thick creams, butters and balms are not suitable for this type of pump. The contents are difficult to draw up, and the pump cannot push them out.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is larger. The difference between them leaves room for the pump tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled up to the nominal volume. If it is overfilled, part of the contents will be pushed out when the pump is fitted and the neck will become soiled.

Using the pump

The pump tube is longer than the bottle, so it needs to be shortened before first use. Cut it at an angle so that it reaches just to the bottom but does not rest on it with its whole surface. Then screw on the pump and press it several times until the tube fills and starts to dispense. One press dispenses approximately 0.14 ml.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Rinse the pump with clean water and leave it to drain, as a wet interior would dilute the first doses.

Good to know

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics, and you will find the declaration of conformity with the product. The food-contact certificate applies only to the glass bottle on its own, and the pump does not have it. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetic products.

Glass withstands cleaning with hot water and disinfection with alcohol, so you can wash the bottle after it is empty and fill it again. If the contents have a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, check whether the seal and the pump tube change over time. It is best to test one piece with the finished formulation before a larger batch.

With water-based serums, bear in mind that the tube and the interior of the pump stay in contact with the product. Preservation of the contents is therefore just as necessary as with any other packaging, as the pump alone does not ensure microbial stability.

The pump is not intended for contents with a large proportion of solid particles. Scrubs, preparations with microparticles or thicker gels clog the valve and the pump stops dispensing.

The bottle belongs in glass recycling. The pump combines plastic and aluminium, so separate it from the glass before recycling and dispose of it according to the rules for plastics.

Frequently asked questions

Does the 10 ml amber glass medicine bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, amber glass reduces light exposure, which makes it suitable for oils and serums sensitive to oxidation. It does not provide complete protection, so store the packaging out of direct sunlight. For contents that do not react to light, the colour of the glass is only a matter of appearance.
Is a medicine bottle with pump also suitable for water-based serums?
Yes, the pump works with both water-based and oil-based contents, as long as they are liquid to slightly viscous. What matters is the viscosity, not the type of base. Thick gels or creams are difficult to draw up and dispensing fails. With a water-based serum, the contents also stay in contact with the tube and the interior of the pump, so they must be preserved as in any other packaging.
Can the 10 ml glass medicine bottle with pump be reused?
Yes, the glass bottle can be refilled after washing and disinfecting with alcohol. Rinse the pump with warm water and pump it several times to flush out any remaining contents. If you are changing to a product with a different fragrance or colour, it is more reliable to use a new pump.
Can I fill the medicine bottle with pump with homemade oils or syrups?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. Only the glass bottle itself has a food-contact certificate, and the plastic pump does not. If you need packaging for food, choose a closure with a food-contact certificate for the bottle, or the bottle on its own with a cap.
Which closure fits the 10 ml glass medicine bottle?
In this set the pump is already included in the pack, so you do not need another closure. If you want to use the bottle with a dropper, a cap or another closure, choose according to the neck type given in the parameters. You will find ready-made combinations and closures sold separately in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking that it seals properly with your specific formulation.
