Product description
A ready-made set for samples and travel sizes: a transparent plastic bottle in a vial shape with a volume of 10 ml and a black flip top cap. The set is designed for small volumes of liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic products dispensed drop by drop or in a thin stream: serum and face oil samples, travel sizes of micellar water or toner, makeup removers, massage and hair oils, liquid soap in a mini size, or hand sanitiser gels.
Transparent PET shows the colour of the contents, making it especially suitable for products where the customer needs to see the texture or shade. It is lightweight and shatterproof, which is appreciated when sending samples by post and when packing into cosmetic bags. The flip top cap opens with one finger, dispenses through a small opening, and stays closed after snapping shut. It is therefore practical for products that are used frequently and with one hand.
Why choose this set
- Dispensing without a dropper – the opening in the cap allows liquid to be squeezed out drop by drop or in a thin stream without a separate applicator that could get lost.
- One-piece closure – the lid is connected to the cap body by a hinge, so it is not set aside during use and reduces the risk of contaminating the contents.
- Transparency – uncoloured PET shows the contents, which is an advantage when selling samples and monitoring the remaining quantity.
- Low weight – a plastic bottle with cap weighs a fraction of what glass of the same volume does, which reduces postage costs when sending samples.
- Verified compliance for cosmetics – both the bottle and the cap are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and both components have an EU declaration of conformity with the packaging regulation.
What the set is and is not suitable for
The flip top dispenses by gravity and by squeezing the bottle wall. It works best with liquids of low to medium viscosity: oils, water-based serums, tonics, micellar waters, liquid soaps, light gels, and sanitising solutions. Thick creams, butters, and solid balms do not dispense well through the small opening, and with a thin-walled bottle you would have to squeeze them out with excessive force.
Flip top is not a spray. If you need a fine mist, choose a bottle with a spray head. For products designed for precise dosing one drop at a time, a dropper is more convenient; a flip top is a compromise between precision and speed.
PET is not resistant to all ingredients. Concentrated essential oils, higher proportions of alcohol, acetone, and certain solvents can degrade, cloud, or deform the plastic over time. With products containing essential oils at standard cosmetic concentrations, this is usually not an issue. For concentrates, we recommend testing the container's behaviour with the specific formulation beforehand and opting for glass instead.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for during standard filling. The total capacity to the brim is greater, because the bottle has a reserve below the neck. This ensures that the contents are not pushed out when the cap is screwed on and that space remains for air and expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Specific values and dimensions for the label are available in the product parameters.
What is good to know before filling
Before first use, wash both the bottle and the cap, sanitise them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and leave to dry completely. Residual moisture in an anhydrous product, such as a face oil, shortens its shelf life and increases the risk of microbial growth.
The bottle has a narrow neck, so it is best filled using a funnel or a dosing bottle. For water-based and emulsion products, do not forget preservation — the packaging itself does not protect the contents. After filling, tighten the cap by hand and check the seal by turning the bottle upside down. When sending samples, we recommend taping the cap or placing the bottle in a bag, as pressure during transport can partially open the flip top lid.
The set is intended for cosmetic products. Only the bottle has a certificate for direct food contact; the cap does not, so do not use the set as a whole for food.
Transparent PET does not protect the contents from light. If you are filling oils rich in unsaturated fatty acids or serums with vitamin C and other light-sensitive active ingredients, bear in mind that the sample has a short use cycle, or choose a brown or opaque container.
Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing with the specific product.
The bottle is made of PET, the cap of polypropylene. Both materials are commonly recyclable; simply empty and separate them before disposal.
