Clear Plastic Bottle, White Lotion Pump, 10 ml

A clear 10 ml PET medicine bottle and a white lotion pump with an 18 mm thread form a ready-made set for small packs of liquid and semi-liquid products. The pump dispenses the same small dose with every press, and the contents are taken out without opening the bottle and without fingers touching the product. A set of this size is used for samples, testers and travel packs of serums, facial emulsions, eye creams and light creams or gels that are applied in small amounts.

The clear material shows both the colour and the remaining amount of the contents, and PET is light and does not shatter when dropped. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.

What the set is suitable for

• Facial serums and light emulsions – a liquid to slightly creamy consistency passes through the dip tube without problems, and the small dose suits products that are applied in drops.
• Samples and testers – a volume of 10 ml is enough for several dozen applications, so the customer can try the product while it stays in closed packaging.
• Travel packs – hand cream, facial emulsion or gel for hand luggage without the risk of breakage.
• Concentrated serums – where a repeatable amount matters, for example products with a higher concentration of active ingredients.

Filling and volume

The stated 10 ml is the nominal volume, that is, the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The physical volume up to the brim of the neck is larger. The difference is a reserve for the dip tube and the body of the pump, which take up part of the space once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill the bottle up to the nominal volume, never to the brim, otherwise the contents will be pushed out through the neck when the pump is fitted.

How the pump works

One press dispenses approximately 0.14 ml, which corresponds to a small dab of cream or a few drops of serum. When using it for the first time, prime the pump by pressing it several times until the dip tube fills. The pump draws in the contents through the dip tube, so the bottle should stand upright during use. The remaining product below the opening of the dip tube can no longer be pumped out, so take this into account when filling.

The consistency of the contents decides whether the pump will work. Thick ointment-type creams, balms containing waxes or products with particles (scrubs, undissolved pigments) will clog the dip tube or will not be drawn in. Very thin oils and aqueous solutions will pass through, but after pressing they may continue to flow and drip from the opening. Before filling a larger batch, we recommend testing the dispensing with your specific formulation.

Good to know

Clear PET does not protect the contents from light. For products with vitamin C, retinoids, essential oils or unsaturated vegetable oils, dark or matte glass is more suitable, or storage in a box. PET is not suitable for hot filling or for sterilisation by boiling, and the bottle must be protected from heat. Undiluted essential oils, solvents and high concentrations of alcohol are aggressive substances that may damage the plastic. We recommend checking compatibility with such contents on a single piece before filling a batch.

Before first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Rinse the pump by pumping clean water through it several times, then alcohol, and leave it to dry with the dip tube pointing down. The same procedure applies for repeated use. If cream has dried in the pump and it dispenses irregularly, it is usually easier to replace it.

The certificate for direct contact with food applies to the bottle alone. The pump does not have it, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics, not for food use. The bottle is made of PET and the pump of polypropylene; before recycling, unscrew them from each other and dispose of them according to material.
