Product description

A plastic pump bottle of 100 ml is a ready-made combination of container and closure for liquid and medium-viscosity cosmetic products dispensed in portions. The transparent PET bottle is lightweight, making it suitable for the bathroom, the shower, and travel. Through the clear wall you can see the product colour and how much remains.

The pump in a matte black-and-gold finish delivers a consistent amount of product with each press. The contents do not come into contact with hands, which is a practical advantage over a jar for products with an aqueous phase. Both the bottle and the pump are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Declarations of conformity are provided for the individual components of the set.

What the set is suitable for

  • Rinse-off products – liquid soaps, shower gels, shampoos, and conditioners where one-handed dispensing is convenient.
  • Body lotions and light emulsions – liquid to medium-viscosity textures that the pump can draw up.
  • Oil-based products – massage, body, and cleansing oils, where the pump reduces spillage and dripping down the bottle.
  • Small batches of own production – the 100 ml volume is well suited for testing a new formula or as a travel-size pack.

The set is less suitable for very thick creams, butters, and products with coarser particles, such as scrubs containing salt, sugar, or crushed kernels. The pump cannot draw up thick masses, and particles may clog the mechanism.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount for which the bottle is designed under standard filling. Total volume to the brim is slightly larger — it is the physical capacity up to the neck. The difference serves as a reserve for the pump tube, which displaces some contents when screwed in, and for product expansion with changes in temperature. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

Preparation and filling

Before first use, we recommend washing, rinsing, and sanitising the bottle. For the pump, it is sufficient to pump the sanitiser through several times. Allow both parts to dry completely so that no excess water enters the product.

The pump tube is longer than the bottle. Before fitting, trim it with clean scissors so that it reaches just above the bottom, preferably with an angled cut. An angled tip will not suction to the base and allows the bottle to be emptied almost completely.

After filling, screw the pump on firmly and prime it with a few presses until it begins to dispense the product. The dose size per press is stated in the pump specifications.

Good to know

The PET bottle is not intended for hot filling. Allow the product to cool to near room temperature before filling — hot material may deform the bottle. For the same reason, the bottle should not be boiled.

  • Light protection – the clear material does not protect the contents from light. Products containing sensitive vegetable oils, extracts, or colorants should be stored away from direct sunlight.
  • Essential oils and solvents – undiluted essential oils and formulations with a high proportion of solvents are not suitable for a plastic bottle.
  • Labelling – bottle dimensions required for label design are listed in the specifications.
  • Reuse – the bottle can be reused after thorough washing and sanitising. The pump mechanism is harder to clean; when changing products, flush it with warm water and sanitiser.
  • Waste sorting – the bottle is made of PET; the pump combines plastics with aluminium. Separate the pump from the bottle before disposal.

The bottle has a standard neck, the type of which is stated in the specifications. Additional closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations are available from Handymade. For custom combinations, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing performance, and container behaviour with your specific formula.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 100 ml plastic pump bottle suitable for liquid soap and shampoo?
Yes, the 100 ml plastic pump bottle is designed precisely for liquid soaps, shampoos, and shower gels. The pump draws up liquid to medium-viscosity textures and delivers them in equal doses. For very thick gels, it is advisable to test in advance whether the pump draws them up reliably. The set is not suitable for thick creams, butters, or scrubs containing particles.
Can oil be filled into the plastic pump bottle?
Yes, the plastic pump bottle is also suitable for massage, body, and cleansing oils. The pump reduces oil dripping down the bottle and makes it easier to dispense the right amount. However, the clear bottle does not protect the contents from light, so for oils prone to oxidation it is advisable to store the product in a dark place, such as a cupboard.
Does the pump tube need to be trimmed before fitting on the bottle?
Yes, the pump tube is longer than the 100 ml bottle and must be trimmed to size before fitting. It should end just above the base. A tube that is too long will bend inside the bottle and prevent the pump from being screwed on properly. One that is too short will leave an unused residue at the bottom. The tube should be cut with clean scissors to avoid introducing contaminants into the product.
Can the PET plastic bottle be filled with a hot product?
No, the PET plastic bottle is not intended for hot filling. High temperatures can soften the material and deform the bottle. Emulsions and gels prepared at elevated temperatures should therefore be filled only after cooling to near room temperature. The same applies to cleaning: the bottle is washed and sanitised, not boiled.
Is the plastic pump bottle also suitable for food?
No, the 100 ml plastic pump bottle is intended for cosmetic products, not for food. Both the bottle and the pump are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics; suitability for contact with food is not declared. For syrups, cooking oils, or other food products, a container that explicitly states food-contact suitability must be used.
