Phenolphthalein is an organic compound used as a pH indicator in cold process soap making.
It is used to determine and verify that the pH of the soap is in the range of 8 - 9 or below 10.
The prepared phenolphthalein solution is transparent and turns shades of pink (pH approx. 8,2) to purple (pH up to 10) on contact with the soap.
It can be used to quickly check the maturity of the soap.
