Filling and volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for during standard filling. Total volume to the brim is larger, as it also includes the space in the neck. The difference provides a reserve for the sprayer tube, which extends into the bottle, and for closing without overflow. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The neck is narrow; a small funnel helps when filling.

What's good to know

Preparation before first filling. We recommend washing both the bottle and the sprayer, sanitising them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leaving them to dry completely. Residual water would dilute the contents and increases the risk of microbial contamination in unpreserved products.

Suitable contents. The sprayer works best with thin liquids: water, hydrolats, tonics, hydroalcoholic mixtures and perfume waters. Thick serums, emulsions or gels will not be dispersed by the nozzle and the mechanism may clog. For light oils we recommend testing the function in advance, as some sprayers deliver them as a stream rather than a mist.

Plastics and concentrated substances. The parts of the sprayer in contact with the contents are made of plastic. Undiluted essential oils and certain solvents may stress the plastic over time. In standard diluted cosmetic blends this is not usually a problem. With an unusual formula, leave the filled set for a few days and check for leaks and dosing.

Glass and heat. Do not fill the bottle with hot contents and do not expose it to sudden temperature changes, for example moving it from the fridge into hot water. Allow warm mixtures to cool to room temperature.

Repeated use. The glass bottle can be reused after washing and sanitising. Rinse the sprayer with clean water by pressing it several times and leave to dry. If it starts dispensing unevenly or the nozzle remains clogged, replace the mechanism.

Recycling. Glass goes with glass. The sprayer combines plastic and metal, so unscrew it from the bottle before disposal and sort them separately.
