Product description

Glass bottle, green, nasal spray, 15 ml is a ready-made set of a small glass vial with a fitted dispenser that releases a small, repeatable dose of liquid content with each press. Suitable for water-based and hydroalcoholic formulations with low viscosity that are applied precisely and in small amounts – tonics, hydrolats, facial mists in travel size, refreshing skin sprays or samples of your own formulations for customers. Glass does not affect the scent or composition of the contents, making it suitable for formulations containing alcohol or essential oils at standard concentrations.

The set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics; the declaration of conformity and supporting documents are available with the product. The set is not declared for food contact. "Vial" refers to the bottle shape and "nasal spray" refers to the dispenser type, not their intended use.

How the set works

The bottle is glass with an 18/410 threaded neck, onto which a nasal spray-type dispenser with an extended nozzle and a transparent cap is screwed. The dispenser draws the contents through a dip tube reaching to the bottom and forces it out through the narrow nozzle opening as a fine stream when pressed. The nozzle shape allows the contents to be applied precisely to a small area without spraying onto the surroundings, which is appreciated with more concentrated formulations or when applying to the scalp. The cap protects the nozzle from contamination and accidental pressing during transport.

The dispenser is made of several materials – plastic parts, a steel spring and a glass ball of the valve. The contents therefore come into contact not only with glass, but also with plastic and metal inside the mechanism.

The dispenser dip tube is supplied longer than the height of the bottle. Before first assembly, trim it at an angle so that its end reaches the lowest point of the bottom without kinking. The angled cut prevents the tube from being suctioned against the bottom and allows the contents to be emptied with almost no residue.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of the bottle is 15 ml – the amount the container is designed for during standard filling. The total volume to the brim is slightly larger and represents the physical capacity up to the neck. The difference is a reserve for the dip tube and the dispenser mechanism, which takes up some space when screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Therefore, fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled container will overflow when the dispenser is fitted and may leak through the thread when heated.

Suitable for products such as

  • Tonics and hydrolats – the dispenser handles water-based formulations with low viscosity best; the stream is even and the dose consistent.
  • Facial and body mists in travel size – the small volume and cap make the set a practical addition to a handbag or travel kit.
  • Hydroalcoholic sprays – refreshing or scented waters with a lower alcohol content; at higher alcohol concentrations we recommend testing first, see the note below.
  • Scalp formulations – the extended nozzle allows a tonic to be applied precisely between the hair without unnecessarily wetting the whole head.
  • Samples and test batches – when developing a formulation, 15 ml is sufficient to evaluate the behaviour of a spray product without wasting raw materials.

Oils, thick serums and emulsions are not suitable for this set – the dispenser will either be unable to force them out or will release them as a drop rather than a stream, and the mechanism will gradually clog.

What to know before filling

Before first filling, wash and disinfect the bottle with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Prime the dispenser by pressing it several times in clean water or alcohol and let it drain. After filling and screwing on the dispenser, press it several times to prime it until the tube and pump chamber fill – only then does it dispense a full dose. The exact volume per press is listed in the specifications; take it into account when drafting instructions for use so that the customer knows how many presses correspond to the recommended amount.

Green glass filters some light, but is not equivalent to dark amber glass. Formulations sensitive to light, such as those containing vitamin C or unstable plant extracts, should be stored away from direct sunlight even in this container.

The plastic parts of the dispenser may react to a high proportion of alcohol, undiluted essential oils and solvents. For hydroalcoholic formulations with a higher alcohol content and for formulations with a significant proportion of essential oils, we recommend filling one unit first and checking the seal, pump function and condition of the nozzle after a few weeks.

The set can be reused, but thorough cleaning of the inside of the mechanism is limited. When changing the formulation or for products intended for sale, we therefore recommend a new dispenser. The label area on the bottle is small – allow for short text and a legible font.

When recycling, separate the bottle and the dispenser: glass goes with glass, the dispenser is a combination of plastic, metal and glass and is sorted separately according to the material code in the specifications.

Closures with the same neck type and further ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. When combining the bottle with a different closure of your own choice, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and container behaviour with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Glass bottle, green, nasal spray, 15 ml suitable for oil serums?
No, this set is designed for water-based and hydroalcoholic formulations with low viscosity. A nasal spray-type dispenser is built for thin liquids; it will either be unable to force out oil or a thick serum, or will release it as a drop rather than a stream and the mechanism will eventually clog. For oils, choose a bottle with a dropper or a pump designed for thick products.
Does green glass protect the contents from light?
Partially. Green glass filters part of the light spectrum but does not provide the same protection as dark amber glass. For everyday tonics and hydrolats the protection is sufficient; however, formulations containing light-sensitive ingredients should be stored away from direct sunlight even in this bottle, and during development verify the colour and scent stability in the finished packaging.
Why does the Glass bottle, green, nasal spray, 15 ml not spray immediately after filling?
The dispenser must first be primed. After screwing it onto a full bottle, press it several times until the dip tube and pump chamber draw in the liquid – only then does it release a full dose. If it still does not spray after repeated pressing, check whether the dip tube reaches below the liquid surface and is not kinked or suctioned to the bottom.
Can I fill this set with a formulation containing a high proportion of alcohol or essential oils?
Yes, but with verification. Glass does not react with alcohol or essential oils; however, the plastic parts of the dispenser may soften or lose their seal at high alcohol concentrations or with undiluted essential oils. We recommend filling a test unit and checking the seal, pump function and condition of the nozzle after a few weeks.
How is the Glass bottle, green, nasal spray, 15 ml cleaned before reuse?
Wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Pump the dispenser first with clean water and then with alcohol to flush the dip tube and chamber. However, the inside of the mechanism cannot be cleaned thoroughly, so when changing the formulation or for products intended for sale, we recommend using a new dispenser.
