Product description

A clear plastic bottle with an aluminium cap is packaging for liquid cosmetic products that are dispensed by pouring or decanting. The nominal volume of 100 ml is enough for toner, hydrosol, facial water, massage or facial oil, liquid make-up remover, or a smaller trial batch of shampoo or shower gel. Clear plastic shows the colour and clarity of the contents, and the narrow neck with an 18 mm thread lets only a thin stream through at a time. The set also comes with the cap, so you do not need to choose or buy a closure separately.

The packaging is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the bottle has a certificate for direct food contact; the cap does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products.

How the set works

The bottle is made of PET, a lightweight plastic that does not break when dropped. The aluminium cap has a silver-coloured metal shell and an inner liner made of polyethylene foam (EPE). Once tightened, the liner sits on the neck and seals the contents. The product is dispensed by tilting the bottle, decanting it into smaller packaging or pouring it straight into the palm. The cap can be opened and closed repeatedly; with longer use it is worth checking the liner from time to time.

The metal cap gives the packaging a different look from an ordinary plastic closure. It is therefore also suitable for small gift packs or test batches where appearance matters.

Nominal volume and brimful volume

The nominal volume of 100 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. More fits in up to the neck, but this difference is a reserve for the cap, for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes and for closing comfortably without pushing the product into the thread. You should therefore fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. For liquid products containing surfactants, allow an additional small reserve for foam during filling.

Before the first filling, wash and rinse the bottle and the cap, and disinfect the inside with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Leave it to dry completely, as any water left in the packaging would dilute the product and put a strain on the preservative system.

What it is suitable for

  • Toners and hydrosols – water-based products with no special packaging requirements; the bottle is easy to rinse and inspect.
  • Facial and massage oils – in clear packaging it is worth storing them away from light to slow down oxidation.
  • Shampoo, shower gel, liquid soap – as a sample or travel pack; thicker products pour more slowly through the 18 mm neck.
  • Alcohol-based toners and facial waters containing alcohol – we recommend checking the tightness of the cap with the specific product.
  • Test and sample batches – lightweight packaging with a smaller volume that does not break when sent out.

Good to know

Clear PET does not protect the contents from light. Products containing light-sensitive ingredients, for example oils with a higher content of unsaturated fatty acids or some plant extracts, should be stored in the dark in this packaging, or dark packaging should be chosen for them.

PET is filled cold. Emulsions and liquid products prepared hot should be left to cool before filling, as heat deforms the plastic. The packaging is not intended for concentrated essential oils or solvents, as aggressive chemicals attack PET. For essential oils diluted in a carrier oil or in a water-based product, the behaviour of the specific formulation should be checked directly in the packaging.

The set with the aluminium cap is not approved for food contact as a whole. For home-made oils, syrups or herbal infusions, use the bottle on its own with a closure that has a food-contact certificate.

After washing, the bottle can be reused; for water-based products, it is disinfected again before each new filling. For recycling, the cap is unscrewed, as the PET bottle and the aluminium cap belong in different waste collection streams. You will find closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, and ready-made packaging and closure combinations, in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does a 100 ml clear plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET lets light through and does not protect the contents from it. This is not a limitation for toners, hydrosols or products with stable ingredients. Oils prone to oxidation and products with light-sensitive ingredients should be stored in the dark in this packaging, or an amber or blue bottle should be chosen for them.
How many ml fit into a 100 ml plastic bottle with an aluminium cap?
The bottle is designed to be filled with 100 ml, which is its nominal volume. Slightly more fits in up to the neck, but this space serves as a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If you fill to the brim, the product is pushed into the thread, the cap then does not sit properly and the packaging may leak.
Is a 100 ml plastic bottle with an aluminium cap suitable for food?
The set as a whole is not approved for food. Only the clear PET bottle has a certificate for direct food contact, while the aluminium cap is declared suitable for cosmetics only. The whole set is therefore intended for cosmetic products. For food use, the bottle must be combined with a closure that has a food-contact certificate.
Can a 100 ml PET bottle be filled with oil or an alcohol-based toner?
Yes, the bottle can be filled with vegetable oils as well as water-based products. Oil-based products in clear packaging should be kept away from light to slow down their oxidation. Concentrated essential oils, solvents and aggressive chemicals do not belong in PET, as they attack the plastic. We recommend testing the tightness of the aluminium cap with your specific product, especially one containing alcohol, before filling a whole batch.
Can a 100 ml plastic bottle with an aluminium cap be reused?
Yes, after thorough washing and disinfection with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, the bottle can be filled again. It must be completely dry before filling, as residual water dilutes the product and puts a strain on the preservative system. With repeated use, it is worth checking the liner in the cap; if it is damaged, replace the closure with a new one with the same neck type.
