Product description

The white glass pharmaceutical bottle, 30 ml, with a plastic pump in a glossy black and gold finish, is designed for serums, facial oils and light emulsions that are applied in small doses. The white glass is opaque, so it hides the contents from view and shields them from light. This makes it suitable for formulations with more sensitive ingredients, such as vegetable oils or vitamins. The pump dispenses the contents when you press the head, with no need to unscrew anything and no finger contact with the contents.

The clear overcap covers the pump head, protects it from dirt and prevents accidental pressing in a bag or on a shelf. The bottle and the pump are both declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics.

How the set works

With one full press, the pump releases approximately 0.3 ml of the contents, which for a serum or oil corresponds to one application on the face. The contents of the bottle therefore last for roughly a hundred doses. The customer always receives the same amount and does not have to estimate how many drops came out of the bottle.

The last remnants at the bottom may no longer be possible to pump out, so allow for a small residue when stating the filling volume.

The glossy black and gold finish stands out against the white glass, so the set is also used for gift packaging and for small production runs for sale, where the look of the packaging matters without any further decoration.

What it is suitable for

  • Facial serums and concentrates – liquid to slightly viscous formulations that the pump dispenses effortlessly and where an accurate dose matters.
  • Facial and body oils – vegetable oils and oil blends with active ingredients, which the white glass protects from light.
  • Light emulsions and fluids – thin creams and lotions for the face, neck and décolleté.
  • Fragrance blends in an oil base – for example perfume oils for the skin.

Thick creams and butters are not suitable for this type of pump. The dip tube cannot draw them up and the head returns only with difficulty after pressing.

Volume and filling

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for under normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them leaves room for the dip tube and the pump body, and for slight expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it were filled up to the neck, part of the contents would be pushed out when the pump is screwed on.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the pump, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in the dip tube would get into an anhydrous formulation.

Good to know

Before first use, the pump needs several presses until the dip tube draws up the contents and begins to dispense the full amount. When selling a finished product, mention this to the customer.

The pump body is made of polypropylene and aluminium. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils or with solvents, check in advance how the plastic parts of the pump react to the specific formulation.

Glass does not tolerate sudden changes in temperature. Let a hot oil phase or a freshly mixed emulsion cool to at least room temperature before filling.

The set is not intended for contact with food. Neither the bottle nor the pump has a certificate for food use; the set is intended exclusively for cosmetics.

The packaging can be reused. After washing and disinfection, the bottle can be filled again. Rinse the pump with warm water and a little washing-up liquid, pump clean water through it several times and leave it to dry. Rinsing with ethanol removes oil residues. At the end of its life, the glass bottle belongs in glass recycling; the pump is a combination of plastic and metal and is sorted separately.

Frequently asked questions

Does the white glass pharmaceutical bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the white glass is opaque and shields the contents from light. It is therefore more suitable than clear glass for formulations with vegetable oils, vitamins or other light-sensitive ingredients. Only the overcap of the pump is clear, showing the pump head but not the contents.
How much does the pump of the glass pharmaceutical bottle dispense with one press?
With one full press, the pump releases approximately 0.3 ml. For a 30 ml fill, this corresponds to roughly a hundred doses. The actual amount may differ slightly depending on the thickness of the contents, and before first use you need to press the pump several times until the dip tube draws up the contents.
Is the glass pharmaceutical bottle with a pump suitable for facial oil?
Yes, facial and body oils are among the typical fills for this set. The pump draws up oil without any problem and the white glass protects it from light. For blends with a high proportion of essential oils, check in advance how the plastic parts of the pump react to them.
Can a thick cream be filled into the glass pharmaceutical bottle with a pump?
No, this pump cannot dispense a thick cream or butter. The dip tube draws up only liquid and slightly viscous formulations, and with a thick fill the head jams or dispenses unevenly. A jar or container is more suitable for creams and butters.
How do you clean the glass pharmaceutical bottle with a pump for repeated use?
Wash the bottle with warm water and washing-up liquid, disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and leave it to dry. Pump warm water with washing-up liquid through the pump several times, then clean water, so that both the dip tube and the head are rinsed. Rinsing with ethanol removes oil residues. Both parts must be completely dry before the next filling.
