The clear PET medicine bottle with a pump is a ready-made set for facial serums, fluids, light emulsions and facial oils that are applied in small amounts. There is no need to look for a matching closure – the bottle and the pump come together and only need to be filled.

The clear wall shows the colour of the contents and how much product is left. The black and gold glossy pump with a clear overcap gives the packaging a look that suits serums and facial oils intended for sale or as gifts. PET is light and does not break, so the bottle is also suitable for travel or a cosmetic bag.

What the set is suitable for

• Facial serums and fluids – a dose of approximately 0.3 ml per press is enough for the face or the décolleté area, and the contents do not touch your fingers.
• Oil serums and facial oils – the pump replaces the dropper where the customer prefers a single press to counting drops.
• Light emulsions, liquid foundations and primers – liquid textures are dispensed evenly and without waste.
• Massage and body oils in a small pack – the 50 ml volume is suitable for samples, travel packs or for testing a new recipe with customers.

With thick creams, balms or products containing undissolved particles, first check whether the pump can draw them up. With thicker contents the dose may be lower than with a liquid.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The volume up to the rim of the neck is higher. The difference provides a reserve for the dip tube and the pump body, which push part of the contents upwards when screwed on, and for the expansion of the product with changes in temperature. The bottle should therefore be filled up to the nominal volume, not up to the rim. If it is overfilled, the contents are pushed out through the thread after the pump is fitted and the closure may not seal.

What to know when filling

Before first use, rinse the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Rinse the pump by pressing it several times in clean water and then in alcohol, and let it dry with the dip tube pointing down. Residual water in the dip tube or in the pump body would get into the product.

PET tolerates both water-based and oil-based products. With a higher proportion of essential oils, alcohol or other solvents, check how the packaging behaves with your specific formulation, because aggressive chemicals can damage the plastic over time. The set is not intended for hot filling or for heat sterilisation. The product is filled into the bottle only after it has cooled to room temperature.

Both the bottle and the pump are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Only the bottle has a separate certificate for direct contact with food. The set as a whole is intended for cosmetics, because the pump does not have this certificate. The declarations of conformity for both components are listed with the product.

Reuse and recycling

After thorough washing and disinfection, the bottle can be used again. The pump is harder to clean, because product residues remain in the dip tube and in the valve. When changing the contents to a different type of product, we recommend a new pump. The bottle is made of PET and belongs in sorted plastic waste. The pump combines PP and an aluminium part, so separate it from the bottle for recycling.
