Product description
This white glass medicine bottle, 10 ml, with a plastic pump in a glossy black and gold finish is designed for packaging small amounts of liquid cosmetics that you want to dispense precisely and without touching the contents with your fingers. One press of the pump dispenses approximately 0.3 ml, which is enough for one application of a facial serum, an eye-area oil or a cuticle oil. With such a small volume, the contents are used up before they have time to lose their quality.
The clear overcap protects the pump head from dust and accidental pressing in a bag or during transport. Once empty, the glass bottle can be washed and refilled.
How the set works
The pump screws onto the bottle and its dip tube reaches the bottom, from where the mechanism draws up the contents. One press corresponds to a dose of around 0.3 ml, so you can dispense the contents without pouring and without scooping them out with a finger. This way, fewer impurities get into the bottle.
The pump is intended for liquid to slightly viscous contents. Vegetable oils, oil serums, light water-based serums and thin emulsions pass through without any problem. Thick creams, balms and gels with higher viscosity will not pass through the dip tube, or the mechanism will jam. For formulations on the edge of the viscosity range, test the dispensing beforehand on a smaller amount.
The pump is not a sprayer. It dispenses the contents as a drop or a small stream, not as a mist. This set is not suitable for toners or facial sprays.
What it is suitable for
- Facial and eye serums – a small single-use dose without touching the contents with your fingers.
- Facial oils and oil serums – the pump dispenses thin oils precisely and without dripping down the neck.
- Cuticle oil and eyelash oil – only a small amount of these products is used, so 10 ml lasts a long time.
- Samples and travel sizes – the 10 ml volume works well as a tester for customers or for travelling.
- Concentrated active serums – with more expensive ingredients, a small volume and precise dispensing are worthwhile.
Volume and filling
The nominal volume is the volume the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The brimful capacity is the physical volume of the bottle up to the top of the neck. The difference between the two forms a reserve for the dip tube with the pump and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you overfill the bottle, the dip tube displaces the contents when the pump is screwed on, and they overflow through the thread.
Fill thicker serums slowly and let them settle before fitting the pump, so that no air remains in the dip tube. The first few presses serve to prime the system, and the contents begin to be dispensed only afterwards.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. For the pump, it is enough to rinse it with clean water and let it drain. Alcohol reaches the dip tube and the mechanism less easily, so for sensitive formulations pump clean water through them several times and then let them dry.
The dip tube of the pump is longer than the bottle. Shorten it with a sharp knife using an angled cut so that it reaches the bottom but does not touch it with its whole surface. The angled cut prevents the dip tube from sticking to the bottom, and the pump draws up even the last remainder of the contents.
The bottle can be reused; once empty, it is enough to wash it and disinfect it again. With the pump, it depends on the previous contents. Oil residues are harder to remove from the dip tube and the mechanism and may affect the scent of the next filling, so we recommend a new pump when changing the formulation.
The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products; you will find the declaration of conformity with the product. It is not intended for food. Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
The glass bottle belongs in glass waste. The pump combines PP plastic and aluminium; before recycling, unscrew it and dispose of it separately according to local rules.
