Product description

This 10 ml plastic pharmaceutical bottle with a pump is designed for small volumes of liquid cosmetics that you want to dispense in small amounts without opening the packaging. The white wall of the bottle limits the amount of light reaching the contents, and PET is lightweight and does not break if dropped. The white and gold glossy pump head complements the white packaging, and the result looks like a finished retail product.

Both the bottle and the pump are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the declaration of conformity is available with the product.

What it is suitable for

  • Facial and eye serums – one press corresponds to the usual amount for the face or eye area, and the contents do not come into contact with your fingers during use.
  • Oil serums and elixirs – the pump replaces a dropper where you need a repeatable dose without product running down the neck.
  • Samples and travel packs – 10 ml of serum lasts several weeks, and the packaging withstands transport in a bag.
  • Concentrated products – liquid active ingredients that are best dispensed in small amounts.

How the set works

The pump screws directly onto the neck of the bottle. It draws the contents up from the bottom through a dip tube and, when the head is pressed, dispenses approximately 0.14 ml (indicative value). For such a small bottle this is a sensible unit: one to two presses are enough for one application, and the contents are not used up prematurely.

Dispensing works with liquid and slightly viscous contents, that is, serums, fluids and oils. The pump generally cannot draw up thick creams, balms or products that solidify in the cold, or it dispenses them unevenly. Check how it behaves with your specific formulation on a single piece before you fill a larger batch.

The dip tube of the pump is longer than the height of the bottle. Before the first assembly, trim it with an angled cut so that it ends just above the bottom, otherwise it will bend and the pump will not draw up the contents. After filling, press the pump several times without product until the system is primed.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is usually higher. The difference provides a reserve for the dip tube and the internal parts of the pump and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Therefore, always fill up to the nominal volume, never to the brim, otherwise the contents will be pushed out through the thread when you screw on the pump.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Rinse the pump in the same way and let it drain, as residual water in the dip tube would dilute the first doses.

The material of the bottle is PET, and the pump combines plastic, PP and aluminium. For contents with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, check in advance how the packaging behaves during longer storage. Do not expose the packaging to aggressive chemicals.

Reuse of the bottle is no problem after thorough washing and disinfection. The pump is harder to clean because the inside of the pump cannot be taken apart. When you change the formulation, rinse it with warm water and alcohol and pump it several times, or use a new one.

Light and heat. The white wall reduces the amount of light reaching the contents; nevertheless, store contents that are sensitive to oxidation away from direct sunlight. PET is not intended for filling with hot contents, so let the product cool to room temperature before filling.

Only the bottle has a certificate for direct contact with food. The pump does not have one, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

Recycling. The bottle goes in plastics recycling as PET. The pump contains several materials, including aluminium, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.

The bottle has a standard neck, so other closures with the same thread type from the Handymade range also fit it. If you make your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 10 ml plastic bottle with a pump suitable for an oil serum?
Yes, the pump is suitable for liquid and slightly viscous oils and oil serums. The dip tube draws up the contents from the bottom, and one press dispenses a small amount that is enough for the face. Thick oil blends with high viscosity may slow down dispensing; in that case, try the pump on a single piece before you fill the whole batch.
How much product does the pump dispense per press?
Approximately 0.14 ml (indicative value). With a volume of 10 ml, this means roughly seventy doses per filling. The first presses after filling run without product until the dip tube and pump are primed, so not the entire volume is available for use. One to two presses are enough for one application of serum.
Does the white plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
Partially. The white wall limits the amount of light reaching the contents, but it does not act as a complete barrier and does not replace storage in the dark. Store products with antioxidants, vitamins or sensitive vegetable oils in this packaging away from direct sunlight and at room temperature as well.
Can the plastic bottle with a pump be reused?
Yes, after thorough washing and disinfection with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. The bottle is easy to clean; the pump is more demanding because the inside of the pump cannot be taken apart. When you change the formulation or after longer use, it is more reliable to replace the pump with a new one and reuse the bottle.
Is this set also suitable for food, for example homemade oils?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. Only the bottle has a certificate for direct contact with food; the pump does not have such a declaration. Both components of the set are suitable for cosmetic use, and you will find the declaration of conformity with the product.
