Amber Plastic Bottle, Black Aluminium Cap, 100 ml

The amber plastic medicine bottle with a volume of 100 ml and a black aluminium cap forms a ready-made set for filling liquid cosmetics. The dark PET reduces light transmission, so it is mainly used for vegetable, massage and facial oils, tinctures, toners or liquid serums, which lose their scent, colour or effectiveness when exposed to light for a long time. The plastic is light and does not break, which you will appreciate when posting orders to customers, at markets and in a travel bag. The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. In addition, the bottle itself has a certificate for direct contact with food, while the cap does not, so the whole set is intended for cosmetics.

What the set is suitable for

• Oils and oil blends – massage, body, facial and hair oils, oil serums or macerated oils. The dark packaging slows down the oxidation of oils, which light speeds up.
• Toners and hydrosols – water-based products with a preservative, which are poured onto a cotton pad or into the palm of your hand.
• Tinctures and alcohol extracts – the amber plastic protects plant dyes from fading. With a high alcohol content, we recommend checking how the packaging behaves on one trial bottle.
• Samples and test batches – a volume of 100 ml is enough for a test batch of a formulation or for a travel version of a larger pack.

Cap and seal

The black cap is made of aluminium with a foam polyethylene seal. The seal sits on the rim of the neck and separates the contents from the metal. Aluminium can deform if too much force is used, so it is enough to tighten the cap by hand until you feel firm resistance, without forcing it. If you will be transporting the bottles lying on their side, test the tightness beforehand. Before each further filling, check that the seal is intact and clean.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 100 ml is the amount the medicine bottle is designed for with normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is usually slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the closure, a dropper or pump where fitted, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents are pushed onto the thread when closing or leak under the cap.

Good to know

• Preparation before the first filling – wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in an oil-based product promotes the growth of microorganisms.
• Heat – PET softens and deforms at higher temperatures. Let a heated oil phase or emulsion cool to room temperature before filling, and store the bottles away from heat and direct sunlight.
• Aggressive substances – do not expose the packaging to aggressive chemicals. With an unusual formulation, for example one with a high proportion of undiluted essential oils or solvents, we recommend testing on one piece before you fill the whole batch.
• Reuse – after thorough washing and disinfection, the medicine bottle can be filled again. Replace the cap when the seal loses its shape.
• Recycling – the bottle belongs in the plastic bin as PET, and the aluminium cap is sorted separately.
