Product description
The blue glass bottle with fine mist sprayer is a ready-made combination of packaging and closure for thin, sprayable cosmetic products with a nominal volume of 100 ml. Blue glass lets through less light than clear glass, which protects contents that are sensitive to sunlight. The black sprayer with dip tube disperses the liquid into tiny droplets, so the product is applied without touching it by hand and without pouring.
The set is especially suitable for facial toners, hydrosols, refreshing sprays, hair tonics and perfume sprays, that is, for anything with a watery consistency that is applied to the skin or hair as a spray. The packaging is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics.
Key features
- Protection from light – blue glass lets through less light than clear glass, which helps with hydrosols, toners with plant extracts and fragrances that change more quickly in light.
- Hygienic dispensing – the contents leave the bottle only through the sprayer, so you do not reach inside with your fingers and the risk of introducing microorganisms is reduced.
- Consistent dose – each press releases approximately the same amount, so a toner or hair spray is applied evenly.
- Odour-free glass – the glass bottle does not absorb scents from the contents and can be washed and refilled.
- Coordinated look – dark blue glass with a black top and a black sprayer looks cohesive, which suits small batches and gift packs.
What it is suitable for
The sprayer needs a liquid that passes easily through the dip tube and nozzle. It works best with water-based and alcohol-based products: facial and body toners, hydrosols, thermal or mineral sprays, hair tonics, conditioner sprays without thickeners and perfume waters.
Thick emulsions, creams, gels with a thickener and pure vegetable oils are not suitable for this set. The nozzle either does not disperse them at all, or sprays them in a single stream and quickly clogs. For oils and serums, a bottle with a dropper or pump is more suitable.
If you want to spray a product containing some oil (for example a two-phase toner), shake it before each use and press the nozzle once or twice over a sink when you finish. Otherwise, oil residues in the nozzle dry out and dispensing becomes worse.
How to work with the set
Before the first filling, wash the bottle with warm water and a small amount of washing-up liquid, rinse it, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely with the neck facing down. Rinse the sprayer with clean water and leave it to drain. Both the tube and the mechanism must be dry before screwing the sprayer on.
Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for in normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the sprayer tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the neck, the contents overflow when the tube is inserted and the sprayer does not seat tightly.
Insert the sprayer tube into the bottle and screw the closure on evenly, without overtightening. It is normal for the mechanism to need several presses to “draw in” the liquid before it starts dispensing.
Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes well. Do not pour hot infusions or a heated water phase straight from the pot into the bottle; let them cool to approximately room temperature first. Do not put the bottle in the freezer either.
Good to know
The sprayer is made of polypropylene (PP). It copes well with common toners, hydrosols and alcohol sprays. For products with a higher proportion of essential oils or other solvents, check before a larger batch how the sprayer behaves with your specific formulation: whether it changes colour, becomes hard and whether it dispenses the same way after several weeks.
One press releases approximately 0.14 ml. For toners and hair tonics, where a fine mist is enough, this is sufficient. For sprays covering larger areas, expect to need several presses.
Water-based products without alcohol require a functioning preservative system; the packaging does not replace it. Dark glass slows the effect of light, but it does not address microbial stability or oxidation caused by the air that enters the bottle with each press.
After thorough cleaning and disinfection, the bottle can be filled repeatedly. When changing the contents, rinse the sprayer with clean water and leave it to dry. If it starts dispensing unevenly or the nozzle clogs, replace it with a new one with the same thread type. You can find other closures for the same neck type, as well as ready-made combinations, in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
For recycling, the glass bottle belongs in glass and the sprayer in plastics, so separate them before disposal.
