Product description
Clear glass bottle, lotion pump with black top, 100 ml
The 100 ml glass bottle with a lotion pump is a set for filling body lotions, light creams, serums, gels and liquid emulsions that are dispensed by pressing. The contents are not poured out or scooped with your fingers, and each press dispenses roughly the same amount. Through the clear glass you can see the colour of the product and how much is left, which is useful both for selling and for your own production. The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.
What it is suitable for
A lotion pump works best with contents that flow and can be drawn up through a dip tube. This bottle is therefore particularly suitable for:
- Body lotions and light creams – more fluid emulsions that are dispensed by pressing, without taking them out of the container.
- Serums and gels – water-based and gel formulations of medium viscosity, where you want to dispense a small amount at a time.
- Hand creams and facial emulsions – the 100 ml volume corresponds to a standard size for a bathroom shelf or a work desk.
- Samples and smaller batches – the clear bottle allows a quick check of colour and phase separation while you are testing a recipe.
Thick ointment-type creams and balms containing wax are not suitable for the pump. The dip tube will not draw them up and the mechanism will clog. For formulations on the edge of fluidity, we recommend testing the dispensing on a small batch.
How the set dispenses
The pump screws onto the thread of the bottle and draws up the contents through a dip tube that reaches almost to the bottom. One press dispenses approximately 0.14 ml, which is enough for one application of hand cream or serum. With body lotion, the customer presses two to three times. The pump head is black and the body of the bottle is clear, so the product looks uniform on the shelf.
As with any pump with a dip tube, a small residue is left at the bottom that can no longer be drawn up. Take this into account when calculating the declared quantity.
Before first use, prime the pump by pressing it several times until the dip tube fills. The first doses are often smaller.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume of the bottle is 100 ml. This is the volume the packaging is designed for in standard filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between the two provides a reserve for the dip tube of the pump, the air above the liquid and any expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents will overflow when the pump is screwed on.
Preparation and reuse
Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Rinse the pump with clean water, press it several times to push out the remaining water, and let it dry. The glass withstands repeated washing and hot water; wash the polypropylene pump in warm water.
The set can be used repeatedly. When changing the contents, rinse the pump thoroughly, as residues of cream in the dip tube would otherwise contaminate the new batch.
Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Store formulations with sensitive active ingredients, essential oils or unsaturated oils away from direct sunlight, or choose amber glass instead.
Good to know
The glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact. The lotion pump does not have this certificate, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. For homemade oils or syrups, use the bottle with a closure (sold separately) that is approved for food.
You will find the thread type of the bottle in the parameters. Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. If you are making your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend testing the behaviour of the plastic pump on a small batch beforehand.
For recycling, separate the glass from the plastic pump, as each belongs in a different collection.
