Product description
A blue glass bottle with a treatment pump is packaging for face, body and massage oils, oil serums and hair oils that are meant to be dispensed in small amounts without pouring. The pump with a dip tube draws the oil up from the bottom and delivers a small dose with one press, so the bottle does not need to be tilted or the oil measured out. The clear overcap protects the pump head from dust and accidental pressing during storage or while travelling.
The set consists of a glass medicine bottle with a nominal volume of 100 ml, a black plastic treatment pump and a clear plastic overcap. It is supplied as an assembled combination with the same thread on the bottle and the pump. All three components are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The set is intended for cosmetic products and has no food contact approval.
What the set is suitable for
- Face oils and oil serums – the small dose per press corresponds to the amount commonly applied to the face.
- Massage and body oils – the pump can be operated with one hand, which suits massage better than unscrewing a cap.
- Hair and beard oils – a measured dose makes controlled application to the lengths or the skin easier.
Volume and filling
The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is intended for under normal filling. The brimful capacity is the physical volume up to the neck and you can find it in the parameters. The difference between the two leaves room for the pump dip tube, which takes up part of the space once screwed in. Fill the bottle up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is overfilled, the oil may overflow through the neck when the pump is screwed in.
One press delivers approximately 0.18 ml. When using the pump for the first time, press the head several times until the dip tube fills with oil and the pump starts to dispense evenly. Once the contents have been used up, a small amount of oil remains at the bottom that the dip tube can no longer reach. Take this remainder into account when calculating the number of doses in the product.
The pump is intended for liquid oils. With thicker blends or at lower temperatures, dispensing may slow down. Test your specific recipe in a single bottle before filling a larger batch.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely so that no moisture remains inside. It is enough to rinse the pump with pure ethanol and leave it to dry. Do not soak the plastic parts in solvents for a long time.
The glass bottle withstands repeated use. Once it is empty, wash it and fill it again. When changing the contents, rinse the pump thoroughly so that residues of the previous oil do not alter the fragrance of the new contents. Do not expose the glass to sudden temperature changes and do not pour hot oil into a cold bottle.
Pure essential oils and solvents may attack or discolour the plastic parts of the pump. For formulations with a high proportion of such ingredients, check compatibility beforehand or choose a bottle with a glass dropper.
You can find closures with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the seal and the dispensing with your specific formulation.
After use, the glass bottle belongs in glass recycling, while the pump and the clear overcap are made of plastic. Separate the components before recycling.
