Product description

Clear glass medicine bottle, black fine mist sprayer, 50 ml

The glass medicine bottle with a black fine mist sprayer is designed for liquid preparations applied as a spray. The 50 ml volume is enough for facial toners, hydrosols, refreshing mists, perfumed waters, hair sprays or hand disinfectant sprays. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics, for both the bottle and the sprayer.

Clear glass shows the colour and purity of the contents, so it suits water-based solutions, coloured hydrosols or preparations where the liquid level should be visible. Glass does not react with the contents, even with alcohol bases, and is easy to clean. The black sprayer on clear glass creates a striking contrast that looks good on a counter and in a bathroom.

How the sprayer dispenses

The sprayer is mechanical, with no propellant. One press releases approximately 0.14 ml of the contents as a fine mist, a dose suitable for spraying on the face, hair or palm. A full bottle therefore gives about 350 presses.

Only a thin, water-like liquid forms a mist. Thicker preparations, gels or oils are not spread into a mist by the nozzle; they come out as a stream or clog the sprayer. This bottle is therefore intended for water-based and water-alcohol formulations, or very light oil sprays once tested in practice.

Before first use, press the sprayer several times to prime it so that the tube fills and the mist is even from the first application.

Filling and volume

The nominal volume of 50 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total volume to the brim is larger. The difference provides room for the sprayer tube and for the contents to expand when the temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume. A bottle filled to the neck would overflow when the sprayer is screwed on, or the contents would be pushed through the thread.

Water-based and water-alcohol preparations should be poured into the bottle once cooled. Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes, and a hot filling in a cold bottle may cause it to crack.

Good to know

  • Light – clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Store preparations with essential oils or plant extracts in the dark, or choose amber or blue glass for them.
  • Preparation before filling – wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Rinse the sprayer with clean water and let it drain; residual water would dilute the contents.
  • Plastic parts of the sprayer – the mechanism is made of polypropylene. With a high proportion of essential oils or other solvents, check beforehand that the seal does not swell and that the pump keeps running smoothly.
  • Reuse – after thorough washing and drying, the bottle and the sprayer can be used again. Spray clean water through the sprayer until a clear mist comes out of the nozzle.
  • Food contact – only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact. The set with the sprayer is intended for cosmetics as a whole.
  • Recycling – after use, sort the glass and the plastic sprayer separately.

After filling, tighten the sprayer by hand without using tools. An over-tightened thread does not improve the seal; it is more likely to damage the seal or the neck of the bottle.

Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 50 ml glass medicine bottle with a sprayer suitable for oil serums?
No, the mechanical sprayer is designed for thin water-based and water-alcohol liquids. The nozzle does not disperse oil into a mist; it sprays it as a stream, or the mechanism becomes clogged over time. For oils and serums, choose the same bottle with a dropper or a pump. Very light oil sprays can be tried, but their behaviour must be tested on a small amount.
Does a clear medicine bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear glass lets light through and does not protect the contents from it. It suits toners, hydrosols and mists that are used up in a short time, or preparations without light-sensitive ingredients. Store formulations with essential oils or plant extracts in the dark, or fill them into amber or blue glass.
How many millilitres does one press of the sprayer release?
One press releases approximately 0.14 ml of liquid. From the nominal volume of 50 ml, you therefore get about 350 doses. The actual number depends on the viscosity of the contents, the height of the remainder above the tube and whether you press the sprayer fully. With thin water-based preparations, the dose is the most even.
Why is the medicine bottle not filled to the brim?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 50 ml, not to the neck. The space above this level is a reserve for the sprayer tube, which pushes part of the contents upwards when the sprayer is screwed on, and for the expansion of the liquid when the temperature changes. An overfilled bottle overflows after closing or pushes the contents through the thread, which worsens the seal.
Can the glass medicine bottle with a sprayer be used for alcohol toners and disinfectants?
Yes, glass does not react with alcohol bases, and water-alcohol preparations are applied well from the sprayer. The mechanism is made of polypropylene, which tolerates a common ethanol base. With a high proportion of essential oils or other solvents, check beforehand that the seal does not swell and that the pump keeps running smoothly.
Can I use the bottle with a sprayer for food, such as vinegar or salad oil?
The set with the sprayer is not intended for food contact. Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact; the plastic sprayer does not have one. For food use, therefore, choose a bottle with a closure that also has this certificate. The set as a whole is intended for cosmetic preparations.
