Product description
Clear glass medicine bottle, black fine mist sprayer, 10 ml
A small glass bottle with a sprayer for 10 ml of contents, sold as a ready-made set. Clear glass shows both the colour and the clarity of the contents, and the black sprayer dispenses the contents in fine droplets, so it is especially suitable for perfume samples, fragrance sprays, toners or hydrosols in travel size. “Medicine bottle” is the established name for the shape of a bottle with a narrower neck and has nothing to do with medicines.
Both the bottle and the sprayer are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products; you will find the declaration of conformity with the product. The set as a whole is not approved for contact with food.
Key features
- Clear glass – the contents are visible, which helps with samples and with checking the clarity of the contents. However, it does not protect the contents from light.
- Threaded sprayer – it screws onto the neck of the medicine bottle and dispenses when you press the button.
- Small volume – suitable where the contents are used up quickly: a tester, a customer sample, a trial batch of a new composition.
- Glass does not absorb fragrance – after washing, the medicine bottle can be reused for a different composition.
What it is suitable for
It works best with thin, watery contents that the sprayer disperses into fine droplets: eaux de parfum and alcohol-based fragrances, floral waters, toners, refreshing sprays for the face or hair, or room fragrance sprays in a small test quantity. Oils and thicker liquids come out of the sprayer as a stream instead of a mist, and the mechanism may become blocked.
The dose per press is approximately 0.14 ml, so a full medicine bottle yields roughly 70 sprays. The actual number depends on the viscosity of the contents.
Filling and volume
The nominal volume is the volume the packaging is intended for under normal filling. The total brimful capacity listed in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between the two forms a reserve for the sprayer tube, for the air above the liquid and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill up to the nominal volume. If the medicine bottle is filled up to the neck, the tube displaces the contents when the sprayer is screwed on and they overflow over the thread.
When filling medicine bottles with a narrow neck, a small funnel or a needle-free syringe helps. This keeps the contents off the thread, so it seals better and does not become sticky.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the medicine bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely with the neck facing down. Rinse the sprayer by spraying clean water through it and then spray it dry, so that no water remains in the tube to dilute the first doses.
The sprayer tube is supplied longer than the height of the medicine bottle. Before first use, shorten it with scissors using a diagonal cut so that it reaches the bottom but does not bend there. The diagonal end does not stick to the bottom and draws in the contents smoothly.
Clear glass lets light through. For contents sensitive to light, for example some essential oils or compositions with natural dyes, store the medicine bottle away from direct light or choose amber or blue glass.
The sprayer is made of polypropylene. For alcohol-based perfumes and compositions with a higher proportion of essential oils, we recommend checking how the mechanism behaves with your specific formulation, especially the tightness and the smoothness of dispensing after several weeks.
Glass does not tolerate sudden changes in temperature. Do not fill the medicine bottle with hot contents, and do not put a cold bottle into hot water.
You will find closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations of packaging and closure in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
After use, the glass is recycled as glass and the sprayer as plastic; separate the two parts before disposal.
