Product description

The glass bottle with spray pump is a ready-to-use set for preparations applied by spraying. It consists of a 100 ml glass vial and a black plastic spray pump that dispenses the contents in a fine mist. Suitable for thin aqueous and alcohol-based preparations: hydrolats, tonics, facial and body mists, light hair sprays, and perfumed waters.

Glass is inert towards its contents. It does not absorb scent, does not react with alcohol or essential oils, and can be thoroughly cleaned. Both the bottle and the spray pump are suitable for contact with cosmetic products and their threads are compatible, so no additional cap needs to be sourced.

What products is the set suitable for

The spray pump is designed for thin liquids with a consistency close to water. Most suitable are:

  • Hydrolats and tonics – applied directly to the skin, without a cotton pad.
  • Facial and body mists – fine mist distributes the preparation evenly over a larger area.
  • Hair sprays and waters – thin preparations for detangling or refreshing hair, not thick conditioners.
  • Perfumed waters and alcohol sprays – glass does not alter scent and does not absorb it.

Thick gels, emulsions, and pure vegetable oils are less suitable. Instead of a mist, they produce a narrow stream or clog the mechanism.

How the spray pump dispenses

One press delivers approximately 0.14 ml. The small dose allows the preparation to be applied gradually and precisely. The dip tube is sized to match the bottle height, so the contents can be sprayed down to almost the last drop.

Before first use, press the pump several times until the dip tube and mechanism are primed. Filter preparations with undissolved particles before filling, otherwise the nozzle will clog.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume 100 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The exact value is listed in the specifications.

The difference between them is headspace. Part of the space is taken up by the dip tube and pump body; part is needed for the contents to expand with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle will overflow when attaching the spray pump.

Good to know

  • Preparation before filling – wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. For the sprayer, a quick spritz with alcohol and leaving it to dry is sufficient.
  • Glass and heat – glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes, so do not pour hot contents into it and heat it gradually. The sprayer should not be sterilised with heat.
  • Plastic and concentrated ingredients – the sprayer is made of polypropylene. Test mixtures with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents on a sample first.
  • Labelling – the cylindrical bottle body is suitable for self-adhesive labels. The dimensions needed for label design are listed in the parameters.
  • Recycling – the glass bottle is recyclable; unscrew the sprayer before sorting.

Food-contact certification applies to the glass bottle alone; the spray pump does not carry this certification. The set as a whole is intended for cosmetic use.

Additional closures with the same neck type (listed in the specifications) and ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. When creating your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosage, and packaging behaviour with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Can oil be filled into the 100 ml glass bottle with spray pump?
Pure vegetable oil is not suitable for this set. The spray pump is designed for thin liquids with a consistency close to water. Thicker contents come out as a stream rather than a mist and clog the mechanism. For oils, the same bottle with a different closure of the same neck type is more appropriate – for example a dropper or a lotion pump.
Is the glass bottle with spray pump suitable for perfumes and alcohol-based sprays?
Yes, the glass bottle with spray pump is suitable for perfumed waters and alcohol-based sprays. Glass does not react with ethanol and does not absorb scent. The spray pump is made of polypropylene and is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. With a high proportion of essential oils or fragrance compounds, we recommend filling a test sample and checking the seal and mechanism performance after a few weeks.
How many doses does a 100 ml bottle with spray pump deliver?
A full 100 ml bottle with spray pump delivers approximately 700 doses. One press releases approximately 0.14 ml of preparation. The actual number depends on the viscosity of the contents and whether the pump is pressed all the way down. This figure is useful for estimating how long a tonic or facial mist will last with daily use.
Is the bottle with spray pump approved for food contact?
The set as a whole is not approved for food contact. Food-contact certification applies to the glass bottle alone; the plastic spray pump is declared for cosmetic products only. For food use, the bottle must therefore be paired with a closure that carries food-contact approval as stated in its specifications.
Can the glass bottle with spray pump be reused?
Yes, the glass bottle can be refilled after washing and disinfecting. The spray pump should first be flushed with warm water, then with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, and left to dry. However, residues of the original contents and scent may remain in the mechanism. When switching products, it is therefore more reliable to fit a new spray pump with the same neck type.
