Amber Plastic Bottle, Glossy Silver White Pump, 115 ml

This amber plastic medicine bottle with a capacity of 115 ml and a white and silver pump forms a ready-to-use set for liquid cosmetic products that are dispensed in small doses: body and face lotions, serums, fluids, facial oils or liquid cleansing products. The bottle is made of PET, so it is light and does not break when dropped. The amber colour limits the amount of light reaching the contents, which you will appreciate with oils and formulations containing light-sensitive active ingredients. The pump screws onto the neck, the dip tube reaches all the way to the bottom, and a single press dispenses a dose without you having to open the bottle.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The bottle on its own also has a certificate for direct food contact, whereas the pump does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

How the pump works

A single press dispenses approximately 0.14 ml of product. For serums and facial oils, one or two presses are usually enough, while with body lotion the customer takes several doses as needed. A small dose saves the contents and prevents too much of the product from being used unnecessarily.

After filling the bottle and screwing on the pump, the dip tube must first be primed. The first presses without product push out the air and draw in the contents, and only then does a full dose come out. The glossy white and silver look of the pump has no effect on its function, but it goes well with the amber bottle when selling finished products.

The pump draws up products with a liquid to medium-thick consistency. Thick creams, butters and balms do not travel up the dip tube, or the dose comes out unevenly.

Suitable for products such as

• Face and body lotions – light to medium-thick emulsions that are dispensed in doses, without the contents coming into contact with fingers.
• Serums and fluids – both water-based and oil-based, where a small dose suits the way the product is applied and the amber bottle protects the contents from light.
• Facial and massage oils – the pump lets you take out the oil without dripping and without air being forced into the bottle each time it is opened.
• Liquid cleansing products – cleansing milks and make-up removing oils, where one-handed dispensing is convenient.

Nominal and total capacity

The nominal capacity is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total capacity to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is always larger. The difference between them is a reserve for the dip tube and the body of the pump, which are immersed in the contents after screwing on, and for the expansion of the product with changes in temperature. You should therefore fill to the nominal capacity, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle will overflow when the pump is screwed on, or the contents will be pushed out around the thread when pressed.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Rinse the pump by fitting it onto a bottle with disinfectant solution and pressing it several times, then leave it to drain and dry. Residual moisture in the dip tube would dilute the first doses and could compromise the preservation of the product.

Fill emulsions and oils once they have cooled down. PET does not tolerate higher temperatures, and a hot product can deform the bottle. The packaging should not be exposed to aggressive chemicals. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, we recommend testing how the bottle behaves with the specific formulation, so that the wall does not soften or deform.

The set can be reused. After it is empty, wash the bottle and flush the pump by pumping warm water through it several times, followed by a disinfectant solution, to remove residues of the previous product from the dip tube and mechanism. The bottle is made of PET and belongs in the plastics recycling bin. The pump combines plastic and aluminium parts, so unscrew it from the bottle before disposal and do not dispose of it together with the bottle.
