Blue Glass Bottle, Glossy Silver White Pump, 100 ml

This set of a 100 ml blue glass medicine bottle and a plastic pump is ready for filling with facial serums, face and body oils, light emulsions or liquid milks. Blue glass dims the light reaching the contents, which you will appreciate with light-sensitive ingredients such as vegetable oils or serums with vitamin C. The pump releases roughly the same amount with each press, so the customer does not have to estimate the dose and the contents do not come into contact with fingers. Both the bottle and the pump are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What the set is suitable for

Glass does not absorb fragrances or dyes and tolerates oil-based, water-based and alcohol-based contents. A medicine bottle with a pump is therefore used mainly for:

• Facial serums – water-based and oil-based serums, where small doses are used and the contents should be protected from light.
• Face and body oils – blends of vegetable oils, massage oils and after-bath oils. Glass does not react with the oil phase or with a higher proportion of essential oils.
• Light emulsions and liquid milks – face milks, fluids and emulsions of thinner consistency, which the pump draws up without difficulty.
• Cleansing and make-up removal products – cleansing oils, micellar waters and liquid cleansing emulsions in home and salon cosmetics.
• Hair serums and oils – products for hair ends, where one to a few presses are enough.

The set is not approved for food contact. It is intended for cosmetics, not for cooking oils, syrups or herbal infusions.

How the pump works

The pump is white and silver, glossy, with a plastic dip tube that reaches the bottom of the bottle. One press releases approximately 0.14 ml, which corresponds to a usual dose of serum or a few drops of oil. For body oil or milk, several presses are needed. The head is made of polypropylene and is complemented by an aluminium component that gives the closure a metallic look.

After filling and screwing on the pump, press it several times until the tube and chamber fill and the product starts to come out in a full dose. This applies after every new filling.

Filling and volume

The nominal volume of 100 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for under usual filling. The brimful capacity given in the parameters is slightly larger, because it also includes the space up to the neck. This difference serves as a reserve for the pump tube and for slight expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If filled up to the neck, inserting the tube would displace part of the contents and the pump would not tighten properly.

Good to know

• Protection from light – blue glass dims light but does not block it completely. Store products with sensitive active ingredients away from direct sunlight, even in a blue bottle.
• Glass and heat – the bottle tolerates filling with lukewarm contents, but a sudden change of temperature stresses the glass. Let a hot emulsion cool before filling.
• Tube and essential oils – the plastic parts of the pump come into contact with the contents. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, check whether the tube and the seal change over time.
• Reuse – after thorough washing and disinfection, the glass bottle can be filled again. The pump is harder to clean, because residues of the contents remain in the tube and chamber. When changing the formulation, it is more reliable to replace it with a new one.
• Recycling – the bottle belongs in glass recycling, while the pump is a combination of plastic and aluminium, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.
