Product description

This 30 ml frosted glass bottle with a glossy black and gold pump and a clear overcap is designed for facial serums, light emulsions, fluids and oil serums. The product is dispensed in small doses without contact with your fingers. Frosted glass reduces light, while you can still see the level of the contents, so you know how much product remains.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and you will find the declarations of conformity for both components with the product. The set is not approved for contact with food.

The set in practice

  • Dispensing – one press delivers approximately 0.3 ml. For a facial or décolletage serum, this corresponds to one or two doses per application, so the contents are not used up faster than necessary.
  • Hygiene – the product leaves the bottle only through the tube and the pump head. For formulations with a higher proportion of water phase, this reduces the risk of introducing contaminants.
  • Protection of the contents – frosted glass lets through less light than clear glass. For products with light-sensitive ingredients that are stored for a long time, dark or fully opaque packaging remains more suitable.
  • Appearance – the glossy black and gold pump with a clear overcap gives the bottle a finished look without further modification. This is appreciated especially by small-scale makers who sell or give away their products.

Filling and capacity

The bottle is filled to its nominal volume, that is, to 30 ml. The brimful capacity given in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The space above the liquid level is needed by the tube and the internal mechanism of the pump, and it also serves as a reserve when the temperature changes. If you fill the bottle to the brim, part of the contents will be pushed out through the neck when you screw on the pump.

The pump tube is longer than the bottle requires and is meant to reach just above the bottom. If it bends or rests against the bottom after fitting, shorten it with a sharp knife using a straight cut. The pump will then draw the product more evenly.

Before the first filling, wash the glass, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. It is enough to rinse the pump several times with clean water or alcohol and leave it to drain with the head facing down.

Good to know

A pump with a tube works best with products of low to medium viscosity: serums, fluids, oils and light emulsions. Thick creams, high-viscosity gels or products with particles (scrubs, coarser powders) will not be drawn up by the tube or will clog the mechanism. For borderline textures, fill one bottle as a test and check whether the pump delivers an even dose after a few presses.

Products with a higher proportion of essential oils, limonene or other strong solvents may affect the plastic parts of the pump over the long term. For such formulations, test the behaviour of the closure on one sample over several weeks.

The pump is not a leak-proof closure for travel. During transport, secure it with the clear overcap and carry the bottle upright, especially with oil-based contents, which easily seep into the thread.

The glass can be reused. Before a new filling, wash the bottle, remove any residues of the previous contents and disinfect it again. A pump with a tube is harder to clean, so when you change the formulation or after oil-based contents, it is safer to use a new one. The glass belongs in glass recycling; the pump combines plastic with aluminium and is sorted according to the instructions of your municipality.

The bottle on its own can also be combined with other closures with the same neck type, which you will find in the parameters. Handymade offers ready-made bottle and closure combinations as separate items. If you make your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

How many doses does a 30 ml glass bottle with a pump provide?
A full 30 ml bottle provides around 100 presses at a dose of approximately 0.3 ml per press. The actual number depends on the viscosity of the product and on how much of the contents remains in the tube and on the walls of the bottle. With oil serums, the residue is usually slightly larger than with water-based ones.
Does the frosted glass of the 30 ml bottle protect the contents from light?
Partially, yes. Frosted glass reduces the light passing through it and is sufficient for common serums and emulsions used day to day. For products with ingredients that are very sensitive to UV radiation and are stored for longer, amber or fully opaque glass is more suitable, or you can keep the bottle in a box away from direct light.
Can a 30 ml glass bottle with a pump be filled with an oil serum?
Yes, oil serums and pure vegetable oils are among the most common contents of this set. The pump draws them without problems; with thicker oils (castor oil, a higher proportion of butters), the dose may be slightly smaller. After filling, wipe any oil off the thread, otherwise the closure may gradually loosen.
Why is a 30 ml glass bottle with a pump not filled to the brim?
The tube and the internal mechanism of the pump need space above the liquid level. The bottle is designed to be filled to the nominal volume of 30 ml; the brimful capacity is larger and serves as a reserve. If you fill it up to the neck, the contents will be pushed out when you screw on the pump and will seep into the thread.
How do I clean the pump of a 30 ml glass bottle before reuse?
Fit the pump onto a bottle with warm water or alcohol, pump it several times and leave it to drain with the head facing down. Residues of oils or emulsions are hard to remove from the tube and the valve, so when you change the formulation, it is better to use a new pump and reuse only the glass bottle.
