Product description

The 50 ml glass dropper bottle for oils is a ready-to-fill complete set for oil-based products: an amber glass bottle, a black pump dispenser with a dip tube, and a transparent protective cap. The amber glass limits light exposure, which accelerates the oxidation of vegetable oils, making it particularly suitable for facial oils, oil serums and hair oils where it matters that the scent and colour are preserved for longer. The dispenser releases a small measured dose with each press directly into the palm, the contents do not drip and fingers do not come into contact with the neck. The set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics.

Why choose the dispenser set

  • Light protection – amber glass filters light, which is a practical advantage over clear packaging for oils rich in unsaturated fatty acids (rosehip, lingonberry, linseed) or for oil serums with vitamins.
  • Hygienic dispensing – the contents are neither scooped with fingers nor poured over the neck; less air and impurities enter the bottle than when opening a standard cap.
  • Measured dose – each press delivers approximately the same amount, so the customer can easily gauge how much oil they need for the face or hair ends.
  • Glass does not absorb scents – glass does not take on scents or dyes; the bottle can be used for a different oil after washing without transferring the previous scent.
  • Complete set – the dispenser and cap have the same neck type as the bottle, so there is no need to select a closure and verify its seal separately.

How the dispenser works and how to fill it

The dispenser is a small pump with a dip tube that reaches to the bottom of the bottle. When the head is pressed, oil is drawn up through the tube and expelled through the outlet. One press releases approximately 0.18 ml, which corresponds to a few drops – for a facial oil, two to three presses are usually sufficient. The transparent cap covers the head, protects the outlet from dust and prevents accidental pressing in a bag or drawer.

The dispenser is designed for liquid oils and oil blends with low to medium viscosity. Thick products, butters, gels and formulations with solid particles (such as exfoliating oils) will not pass through the tube and valve or will clog them.

The dispenser tube may be longer than the height of the bottle. Before assembling for the first time, shorten it with an angled cut so that it reaches just above the bottom. The angled cut prevents the end of the tube from sticking to the bottom and the dispenser from losing suction.

When filling, follow the nominal volume, not the full-to-the-brim volume. The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling conditions; the total volume up to the neck is larger. The difference creates a reserve for the dip tube and dispenser body, which displace the level upward once screwed in, and for the expansion of oil with temperature changes. An overfilled bottle will overflow through the thread when the dispenser is fitted.

Suitable for products such as

  • Facial oils and oil serums – precise dosing and light protection are exactly what these products need.
  • Beard oils and hair end oils – a few presses are enough, the contents do not spill and the dose is easy to control.
  • Oil blends for nails and cuticles – instead of a brush, a drop is applied directly to the finger.
  • Oil makeup removers and cleansing oils in travel size – 50 ml is a volume suitable for a cosmetics bag.
  • Massage and body oils in small sizes – for example as a sample or gift packaging alongside a larger bottle.

What is good to know

Before filling for the first time, wash the bottle with warm water, optionally disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Rinse the dispenser by pumping it several times in clean water and then dry-pumping to remove any remaining water from the tube and valve. Residual water would cause an unpleasant cloudiness in the oil.

The first presses after assembly will be empty while the tube and valve fill with oil. This is normal dispenser behaviour, not a defect.

Food contact: the glass bottle has a certification for direct food contact on its own. The dispenser and transparent cap do not have this certification, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics, not for food-grade oils or syrups.

Compatibility with contents: both the dispenser and the cap are made of plastic. For formulations with a high proportion of undiluted essential oils, citrus oils or oils containing solvents, we recommend verifying the dispenser's behaviour with the specific formulation – monitor the seal, hazing and any potential softening of plastic parts. The transparent cap is made of polystyrene, which is sensitive to undiluted essential oils, but does not come into contact with the contents during normal use.

The dispenser is not suitable for thick oils, butters, thickened oil gels or products with exfoliating or plant particles. The valve will clog and the dispenser will stop dispensing.

Repeated use: the bottle can be used again after thorough washing and drying. Pump the dispenser through with warm water and a small amount of mild detergent, then with clean water and leave to dry with the tube facing down. If the previous oil scent remains or the dispenser seals less well, replace it.

Label: the cylindrical body of the bottle provides a flat surface for a label. With oils it is worth choosing a label with grease-resistant adhesive, as drops running down the neck will otherwise lift it.

Recycling: the bottle is made of glass and belongs in glass recycling; unscrew the dispenser and cap before discarding and sort them as plastic.

Closures with the same neck type as this bottle (listed in the parameters) and further ready-made bottle + closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the amber glass dropper bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, amber glass filters both visible and UV light, thereby slowing down light-accelerated oxidation of oils. It is therefore more suitable than clear glass for vegetable oils with a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids and for oil serums with vitamins. Light protection, however, does not replace an antioxidant in the formulation or storage away from heat.
How much oil should be filled into the 50 ml dropper bottle?
Fill to the nominal volume of 50 ml, not to the brim. The total volume of the bottle up to the neck is larger, but this reserve is taken up by the dip tube and dispenser body once screwed in, and is also needed by the oil when it expands in warmth. If you overfill the bottle, the contents will overflow through the thread when the dispenser is fitted.
Can the oil dispenser be used for water-based or alcohol-based contents?
The dispenser is designed for oils and oil blends, not for aqueous solutions or alcohol-based products. Hydrolats, tonics and tinctures are thin liquids and could leak through an oil valve; spray dispensers or droppers with the same neck type are more suitable for these contents. For alcohol-based contents, we also recommend verifying the resistance of the plastic parts of the dispenser.
How is the glass dropper bottle cleaned and can it be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the dispenser can be used again after cleaning. Wash the bottle with warm water, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry. Pump the dispenser through with warm water and a mild detergent, then with clean water and leave to dry with the tube facing down. If the dispenser seals less well after cleaning or a scent remains, replace it.
Is the 50 ml glass dropper bottle set suitable for food use?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for food contact. The glass bottle alone has a food contact certification; the dispenser and transparent cap do not. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics and is intended for cosmetic oils and oil serums, not for food-grade oils or syrups.
Why does the oil dispenser not dispense anything on the first press?
The first presses after assembly will be empty while the tube and valve fill with oil, which is normal dispenser behaviour. Press the head several times over a sink until it starts dispensing. If the dispenser still does not draw up oil, check whether the end of the tube has stuck to the bottom of the bottle – shortening the tube with an angled cut will help.
