Glass bottle, clear, oil dispenser, 100 ml

A ready-made set for filling oil-based products: a clear glass bottle in a vial shape with a nominal volume of 100 ml, a black oil pump dispenser with a dip tube, and a transparent protective cap. Each press of the dispenser delivers a small, repeatable amount, so the contents are dispensed without pouring and without the fingers touching the neck. Particularly suitable for facial and body oils, oil serums, massage oils, oil-based facial cleansers, or beard and hair oils.

Glass is chemically stable and does not react with vegetable or essential oils, so it does not affect the scent or composition of the contents. The clear bottle also shows the colour and clarity of the product, which helps with sales and with checking the fill level. However, it does not protect the contents from light, so it is better suited to oils that will be used within a reasonable time, or to products sold in a box.

What the set is suitable for

The dispenser is designed for liquid oils and oil blends with low to medium viscosity. It works well with vegetable oils (jojoba, almond, grapeseed, argan), oil serums with oil-soluble actives, massage oils, and oil-based facial cleansers. The 100 ml volume suits body and massage oils. For concentrated facial oils, it is larger than usual, so consider how quickly the product will be used.

The set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products; all three components are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the glass bottle individually holds a certification for direct food contact. The dispenser and cap do not, so the set is not intended for filling food-grade oils or syrups.

Good to know

Nominal and total volume. The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for during normal filling. The total capacity to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides clearance for the dispenser's dip tube, which takes up some volume once screwed in, and for the expansion of oil with temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim; otherwise oil will overflow through the thread when closing and the outside of the bottle will become greasy.

Preparation before first filling. We recommend washing, rinsing, and sanitising the bottle with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, then leaving it to dry completely. Traces of water in an oil-based product promote microbial growth, because anhydrous oils are usually not preserved. For the dispenser, rinsing and drying is sufficient.

Initial presses. After filling, the dispenser needs to be pressed several times without dispensing until the dip tube fills with oil. This is normal dispenser behaviour and not a defect.

Oxidation. For oils sensitive to oxidation (linseed, hemp, rosehip, evening primrose) it is advisable to add an antioxidant to the formula, such as tocopherol, and to store the product away from direct sunlight.

Temperature when filling. Glass can withstand warm oil, but sudden thermal shock — for example, pouring hot oil into a cold bottle from a chilled store — may cause it to crack. Screw on the dispenser and cap only after the contents have cooled.

Labelling. Dimensions for label design are found in the product parameters. For oils, a grease-resistant label is recommended; ordinary paper will absorb the oil.

Reuse and recycling. The glass bottle can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. The dispenser is harder to clean because oil residues in the tube and mechanism yellow over time. For a fresh batch of the same product this is generally not a problem; when changing products it is better to replace it with a new one. Glass goes into glass recycling, plastic parts into plastics — disassemble the set before recycling.
