Product description

The clear glass bottle with a treatment pump, in a volume of 15 ml, is intended for filling and dispensing oil products that are applied in small doses. One press of the pump always releases the same amount, so the set is particularly suitable for facial oils, oil serums and cuticle oils. The clear glass shows the colour of the contents and the fill level, so you can see how much product is left.

The set consists of three parts: a glass bottle with an 18/410 neck finish, a black plastic treatment pump with a dip tube, and a clear plastic overcap that protects the pump from dirt and accidental pressing. All three parts are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The set is not approved for contact with food.

What the set is suitable for

  • Facial oils and oil serums – the pump measures out a small dose without a dropper.
  • Cuticle and nail oils – dispense directly onto your finger or the area around the nail.
  • Beard oils and oils for hair ends – 15 ml is enough for a test batch or a travel-size pack.
  • Samples and test batches – when you need to hand out or try a new recipe in a smaller quantity.

The pump is intended for liquid oil formulations. For thicker oils, oil-based gel textures or products with a higher proportion of wax, we recommend checking in advance that the product dispenses smoothly through the pump.

Dispensing and filling

One press releases approximately 0.18 ml. A constant dose makes it easier for customers to estimate usage and allows the manufacturer to state the number of doses per pack.

The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 15 ml, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical capacity up to the neck. The difference leaves room for the dip tube and the pump body, which take up part of the space once fitted. If you fill it further, the contents will overflow through the neck when you screw on the pump.

The dip tube of the pump is longer than the bottle itself. Before the first assembly, cut it at an angle so that it reaches just above the bottom. A tube that is too long bends at the bottom and the pump starts to draw in air.

After fitting the pump, press it several times until the dip tube and the piston fill with oil. Only then does it release a full dose.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Residual water in an oil product promotes the growth of microorganisms and makes the contents cloudy. It is enough to rinse the pump with alcohol and let it drain. Do not immerse the whole pump in water, so that no moisture is left in the mechanism.

Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Store oils that are sensitive to oxidation, for example those with a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids or those containing essential oils, away from direct light, or choose a bottle made of amber or blue glass.

Glass and temperature. Allow hot mixtures, for example oil with melted wax or a macerated oil straight after heating, to cool before filling. A sudden change in temperature can crack the glass, and hot contents can damage the plastic parts of the pump.

For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, leave the filled set to stand for several days and check the tightness, the function of the pump and the condition of the clear overcap.

After washing and disinfection, the set can be reused as long as the pump dispenses evenly and the thread seals. When changing the contents, thoroughly remove any residue of the previous oil from the dip tube, otherwise the fragrances and ingredients will mix. For recycling, the glass part goes into glass waste; the plastic parts are unscrewed and sorted separately.

Closures with the same neck type, as well as ready-made combinations of the bottle with other caps, can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

How much oil does the pump on the 15 ml bottle dispense per press?
One full press releases approximately 0.18 ml of oil. For a facial oil, one or two presses are usually enough for the whole face, and for a cuticle oil one press covers several nails. The first presses after fitting the pump are usually incomplete, until the dip tube and the piston fill with oil.
Can the bottle with a treatment pump be filled to the brim?
No, the bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 15 ml. The brimful volume is larger, and the difference serves as room for the dip tube and the pump body, which displace part of the contents once fitted. If it is overfilled, the oil overflows through the neck when the pump is screwed on and soils the thread, so the closure then seals less well.
Does the clear glass bottle protect the oil from light?
No, clear glass lets light through and oils that are sensitive to oxidation age faster in it. It is suitable for products that are used up within a short time, or when you want to show the colour of the contents. For sensitive oils, store the bottle in the dark or choose an amber or blue glass variant.
Is the treatment pump also suitable for thick oils and balms?
The pump is intended for liquid oil formulations, and for thicker textures the dispensing needs to be checked. Oils with a higher viscosity or mixtures containing wax may pass through the pump slowly or clog it. Before filling a larger batch, test one piece and check that the dose comes out smoothly and evenly.
How do I prepare the glass bottle with a pump before the first filling?
Wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry thoroughly. Rinse the pump with alcohol and let it drain, without immersing the whole mechanism in water. Residual moisture does not dissolve in oil and can cause cloudiness or microbial spoilage of the product.
Is this bottle and treatment pump set suitable for cosmetics?
Yes, all three parts of the set – the bottle, the pump and the clear overcap – are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set is not approved for contact with food, so use it only for cosmetic preparations, for example facial and body oils or cuticle oils.
