Product description
The 30 ml glass medicine bottle with pump is packaging for facial serums, facial oils and thinner emulsions that are applied in small doses. Amber glass limits the amount of light reaching the contents, and the matte surface dampens it even further, so it is particularly suitable for products containing oils prone to oxidation or light-sensitive active ingredients. With each press the pump dispenses approximately 0.3 ml. Only the amount you actually use reaches your fingers, and the rest in the bottle touches neither your hands nor the air. The clear overcap protects the pump head from dust and accidental pressing while the bottle is being carried.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. It is suitable for your own production as well as for small batches for sale, where the packaging should look uniform and the contents should be dispensed without opening the bottle.
What it is suitable for
- Facial serums and fluids – a liquid to slightly viscous consistency passes through the pump, and one press corresponds to a usual dose for the face.
- Facial and beard oils – dark matte glass slows the effect of light on unsaturated oils, and the pump prevents them from spilling.
- Light emulsions and milks – as long as they remain runny, they are dispensed cleanly and evenly. Thick creams and butters cannot be pushed through a pump; jars are more suitable for them.
- Samples and travel sizes – glass with a pump looks just as good in a gift set as a full-size pack.
How to use the pump
The pump draws up the contents through a tube that reaches the bottom of the bottle. After it is first screwed on, the system is empty; the first presses only fill it, and a steady dose is dispensed only after that. The clear overcap, which is placed over the pump, protects the head from dust and from being pressed. When filling a larger amount, fill the bottle with a funnel or a syringe and screw on the pump only at the end.
The pump tube is longer than the height of the bottle. Before fitting it for the first time, shorten it with a sharp knife or scissors so that it ends just above the bottom. A bent tube draws up poorly and leaves an unused residue at the bottom.
The pump combines polypropylene and aluminium. For products with a higher proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, we recommend checking that the plastic parts remain tight over the long term and do not change in appearance. With ordinary facial oils and water-based serums with a preservative you will usually not encounter this, but every formulation behaves differently.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them provides a reserve for the tube and the body of the pump, which take up part of the interior once screwed on, and for possible expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.
Fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If the bottle is full, the contents are pushed out through the neck when the pump is screwed on and seep under the thread.
Good to know
- Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Flush the pump with alcohol by pressing it several times and dry it, as residual water would dilute the contents.
- Reuse – glass withstands repeated washing without any change. Before a new filling, pump warm water through the pump and then alcohol, so that no residues of the previous product remain in the tube.
- Glass and temperature – pour the contents into the bottle after they have cooled to room temperature. A sudden change from warm to cold increases the risk of cracking, and warm oil also changes in volume as it cools.
- Neck and other closures – the bottle has a neck with a diameter of 18 mm; you will find other closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
- Recycling – before disposal, unscrew the pump; the glass and the pump are sorted separately.
