Amber Plastic Bottle, Glossy Gold White Pump, 10 ml

A small amount of serum or face oil that the customer dispenses by pressing a pump instead of pouring is exactly what this amber plastic pharmaceutical bottle with a 10 ml volume and a white and gold pump is designed for. The dark PET dampens light and thus protects contents that are sensitive to oxidation, such as serums with active ingredients or face oils. With every press the pump measures out the same amount, you do not touch the product with your fingers when applying it, and the bottle stays closed between uses.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food; the pump does not have one, so the set as a whole belongs in cosmetics. The plastic bottle is light and unbreakable, which you will appreciate when sending samples and when carrying it in a handbag. The pump combines white plastic with a gold glossy part and gives the small pack a complete look without any further decoration.

What the set is suitable for

• Face and eye serums – the pump draws up low-viscosity water-based and gel serums without difficulty, and the dose for a single use is measured out immediately.
• Face oils and oil serums – the amber plastic limits exposure to light, which would otherwise speed up the yellowing of oils, and the pump measures out a dose without a dropper.
• Short-term intensive treatments – 10 ml is enough for several weeks of use of a concentrated product, so the customer uses it up before it starts to spoil.
• Samples and travel packs – compared with glass, the set has a low weight, and the dark bottle hides any change in the colour of the contents.

With thick creams, butters and balms, a pump with a narrow dip tube does not draw up the contents or dispenses unevenly. We therefore recommend testing thicker emulsions in a single set before filling a larger number of pieces.

How the pump works

One press dispenses approximately 0.14 ml. The number of presses per application depends on the thickness of the product and the customer’s habits; with a serum it usually comes to several doses. After filling and screwing on the pump, it is necessary to press the pump several times to prime it until the dip tube fills and the product starts to come out.

The pump dip tube is supplied longer than the height of the bottle. It is shortened before it is fitted for the first time.

When screwing on the pump, it is enough to tighten it by hand. Overtightening deforms the plastic thread, and the set then seals less well.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for with normal filling. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference between them is a reserve for the dip tube and the body of the pump, which take up part of the internal space once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle should therefore be filled up to the nominal volume. If it is filled up to the neck, the excess is pushed out when the pump is fitted and part of the product is lost.

Good to know

• Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle and the pump, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Flush the dip tube with several presses so that no water remains in it, as it would dilute the first doses.
• Filling temperature – protect the bottle from heat. Let emulsions and gels cool to room temperature before filling.
• Anhydrous blends and solvents – do not expose the plastic to aggressive chemicals. For products with a high proportion of essential oils or with aggressive solvents, we recommend checking how the plastic and the pump seal behave by test-filling one piece for several weeks.
• Reuse – after the contents have been used up, the set can be filled again. Rinse the pump with warm water or ethanol and pump until clear liquid comes out. Dried residues of serum or oil would otherwise clog it.
• Recycling – the bottle is made of PET, and the pump combines plastic with aluminium. Separate them before disposal and sort each part by material.
