Cosmetic oils

The cosmetic oils category includes vegetable oils pressed from seeds, kernels and fruits, which form the basis of the fatty phase in natural cosmetics. They are a key ingredient in the formulation of creams, serums, balms, massage oils and hair care. They nourish and soften the skin and promote its natural regeneration.

You will find a wide range of oils - from the classics such as almond, jojoba, argan or grapeseed, to the exotic such as apricot, rosehip or raspberry. Each of them has specific properties, fatty acid and vitamin content that are suitable for a different skin type or purpose of use. The differences between the different types lie mainly in the way they are processed, the composition of the fatty acids and their oxidative stability.

The vegetable oils from Handymade.sk come from proven sources, are cold-pressed and suitable for professional and home cosmetic production. Their quality, purity and natural composition guarantee their effectiveness even in the most demanding formulations.

You can find more basic fat raw materials in the category Butters.

They combine the nutritional power of vegetable oils with the benefits of herbal extracts. For more information and offers, please visit the Macerates and Extracts category.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between virgin, refined and unrefined oil?

Virgin oils (cold pressed) are obtained by mechanical pressing without the use of heat or chemicals, thus retaining maximum nutrients, vitamins and natural flavor. Unrefined oils are fresher and have a more distinctive colour and aroma. Refined oils are purified, have a longer shelf life and a neutral aroma - suitable for hypoallergenic beauty products and perfumed formulations.

How to choose the right oil for your skin type?

For dry skin, thicker oils (avocado, argan, macadamia) are suitable, for oily and acneic skin, light oils with a high linoleic acid content (grapeseed, raspberry, hemp). For mature skin, regenerative oils with antioxidants (rosehip, marula, sea buckthorn) are recommended.

How are oils used in cosmetic formulations?

Oil forms the fatty phase of emulsions, softens the texture and binds active ingredients. It is used in concentrations of 5-50% depending on the type of product - less in serums, more in butters and body creams. It is recommended to combine different types of oils for a balanced fatty acid profile.

Are vegetable oils also suitable for hair cosmetics?

Yes, for example coconut, argan, marula or castor oil improve the shine and elasticity of the hair, protect the ends and strengthen the scalp. They are used in masks, oil packs or serums for the ends of the hair.

How to store vegetable oils?

Store oils in closed bottles, out of sunlight and heat. Once opened, use within 6-12 months. Sensitive oils (e.g. rosehip, raspberry) should be stored in the refrigerator to prolong their shelf life.
