Fragrance oils – concentrated perfume components for cosmetics and candles

Fragrance oils are blends of aromatic substances intended for perfuming cosmetics, soaps, diffusers and candles. They provide stable fragrance intensity , a wide range of notes and good compatibility with common bases (surfactant systems, emulsions, waxes). They are suitable for both cosmetics and candles and allow precise sensory design of products.

When choosing, take into account the top, middle and base notes , the dosage recommended according to IFRA standards and the type of target product (leave-on, rinse-off, ambient products). An overview of the assortment can be found in the subsections below according to olfactory families and seasonal themes.

Each item is supplied with complete documentation – SDS (MSDS), Certificate of Analysis (COA), IFRA and an allergen list . For the difference from essential oils and further context, we also recommend the categories essential oils and aroma chemicals.

Herbal and spicy fragrances

Herbal, aromatic and warm notes (e.g. lavender, rosemary, cinnamon). Suitable for body care, soaps and diffusers. See herbal and spicy fragrances.

Floral fragrances

From light to rich floral accords (jasmine, rose, gardenia). Ideal for creams, home fragrances and candles. Go to floral fragrances.

Fruity and citrus fragrances

Fresh and juicy profiles, suitable for shower products and summer candle collections. You will find them under fruity and citrus fragrances.

Food and beverage fragrances

Gourmand compositions (vanilla, coffee, chocolate, cocktails) with a pronounced “comfort” effect for candles and diffusers. See food and beverage fragrances.

Christmas fragrances

FAQ – Frequently asked questions

How to choose the dosage of fragrance oil in cosmetics and candles?

Follow the IFRA standards for the product type and the results of your own tests. In cosmetics usually 0.1–1 % (leave-on) and 0.3–3 % (rinse-off). In candles, test the fragrance load, wax type and wick for optimal hot/cold throw.

Are fragrance oils suitable for all cosmetic bases?

They are broadly compatible with surfactants, emulsions and oil systems. Before final production, we recommend a stability test (phase, colour, viscosity) in the target base.

Which documents are available for fragrance oils?

SDS (MSDS) , Certificate of Analysis (COA) , IFRA statement and an allergen list . The documentation facilitates compliance with legislation as well as the labelling of finished products.

How do the notes affect the longevity of the fragrance?

Base notes hold the fragrance longer, middle notes form the character and top notes bring the initial impression. The result also depends on compatibility with the base and the chosen fragrance load.

Is it possible to combine fragrance oils with essential oils?

Yes, this is common practice. Observe the IFRA limits for the total content of perfuming components and test compatibility as well as the resulting olfactory profile in the specific base.
