The glass bottle with spray pump is in general suitable for most aqueous and alcoholic solutions commonly used in cosmetics (for example toners, facial mists or aromatic sprays). Before final inclusion in production, we always recommend performing your own test – verifying the longer-term behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation, especially with higher alcohol content or when using non-typical solvents.

The packaging can be reused if hygienic principles are followed. Before each new filling, the bottle and the spray pump must be thoroughly cleaned, rinsed and then disinfected with a suitable alcohol solution (for example using the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based). After disinfection, let all parts dry completely and only then fill them again, in order to minimize the risk of microbial contamination and the impact on product stability.

The spray pump is designed to create a fine and even mist when correctly screwed onto the bottle neck. If interrupted spraying or dripping occurs, check whether the spray head is firmly tightened, whether the tube is properly attached and undamaged, and whether there are no deposits inside it. For more viscous or content-rich formulations, it may be necessary to slightly adjust the composition (e.g. reduce the viscosity) so that the spray pump works optimally.

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend recycling it in accordance with local waste-sorting rules and with the information indicated in the parameter table for the product on Handymade. The glass bottle is usually sorted into the container designated for glass after emptying and basic rinsing. The spray pump, which consists of several materials (plastic, metal spring, possibly other components), generally needs to be sorted according to the instructions of the local collection system or placed in mixed waste if the recycling system does not accept combined components. Always check the current recommendations of your municipality or city before disposal.
