Liquid colorants – intense colors for soaps and cosmetics

Liquid colorants are concentrated water-soluble or glycerin-based pigment solutions intended for coloring soaps, bath products, shampoos, gels and other cosmetics with an aqueous phase. They provide bright, clean and uniform shades without clumps or precipitates. Key terms: liquid colorants , pigment solutions , color stability , cosmetic coloring .

Their main advantage is easy dosing and rapid homogenization without the need for dispersion. Liquid forms are suitable for transparent bases where an even color without sediment is required. Compared to pigment powders, they create lighter and more translucent shades. However, they are not recommended for cold process soap making, as they may react with the alkaline environment.

The colors are mutually miscible, which allows you to create your own shades. Variants water-soluble and in glycerin are available – the choice depends on the product type. If you need more saturated or metallic effects, we recommend powder colorants.

Liquid colorants for soaps

Ideal for glycerin soaps and transparent bases. They ensure uniform coloring without precipitates and can be combined to achieve a wide range of shades. The dosage ranges from 0,1–1 %, depending on the color intensity.

Liquid colorants for cosmetics

Suitable for coloring shampoos, gels, foams and bath salts . They are compatible with most surfactant systems and do not affect the product pH. They are used in small amounts for soft pastel or vivid color tones.

Stability and storage

Liquid colorants are stable when properly stored away from direct light and heat. Some shades may be sensitive to UV radiation, so it is recommended to keep them in dark bottles and shake before use.

Documentation and quality

All products are supplied with SDS (MSDS) and Certificate of Analysis (COA) . When used in cosmetics, they meet the legislative requirements for colorants for cosmetic purposes and are suitable for external use.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

How to dose liquid colorants?

The recommended dose is 0,1–1 % of the total weight of the product. For transparent bases, a small amount is sufficient – add gradually until you reach the desired color intensity.

Are liquid colorants suitable for cold process soaps?

No. In a highly alkaline environment they may change shade or fade. For coloring cold process soaps, we recommend powder colorants.

How to achieve uniform coloring?

Add the color into the liquid base while mixing and mix until it is evenly dispersed. In multi-component systems, it is appropriate to add the colorant to the water phase before emulsification.

Is it possible to combine several colors?

Yes, all liquid colorants are mutually miscible. By combining several shades, you can create your own color variations. It is recommended to make small test batches.

How long do liquid colorants last?

When properly stored, they retain their properties for several years. The length of durability depends on the composition of the specific colorant and its sensitivity to light.
