LX cotton wick – size 20 is a specialized component designed for the safe and stable burning of natural candles. Thanks to its special braiding and fibre treatment, it is suitable for poured container candles as well as for decorative candles where even burning and optimal wax consumption are important. The structure of the wick supports a stable flame, minimizes smoking and helps reduce deposits on the walls of the container when the size and wax composition are correctly selected.
The choice of wick depends on the diameter of the container, the type and blend of wax, and the proportion of fragrance and colourant. We recommend starting with an indicative selection according to the description provided by the wax manufacturer and then always carrying out a series of test burns in the target container. Observe the flame size, the width of the wax pool after 2–3 hours and the height of the wick after burning. If the candle tunnels, a stronger wick is needed; if the flame smokes or is too high, a smaller wick size is recommended.
The wick itself is intended to be inserted once into a specific candle; however, during production you can make several batches from one pack. The packaging – bottles, jars and pots into which you pour the candles – can be reused provided that hygiene principles are observed. Before refilling, the packaging must be mechanically cleaned of wax residues and then thoroughly cleaned and disinfected with a suitable alcohol, for example using the products IPA 99 % – isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured vegetable. Packaging prepared in this way is suitable for safe reuse for the next batch of candles.
When testing the wick, first pour test candles into the final container using the same wax and fragrance composition that you plan to use in production. Allow the candle to cool completely and then carry out several burn cycles of 2–4 hours, allowing the candle to cool between cycles. Observe whether the wax pool reaches almost to the edges of the container without overheating, whether there is no excessive smoking and whether a tunnel does not form at the edges. After each burn, trim the wick to the recommended length and check the stability of the flame for the entire burning period.
After the candle has burned out, allow the container to cool completely. Remove the remaining wax mechanically (for example by scraping it out) and sort the wick remnants, metal tabs or adhesive according to the type of material. Recycle the container itself according to the information in the parameter table for the specific product on the website – follow the material stated there and the recommended type of sorting. If you decide not to reuse the container, it is advisable to clean it of wax residues and place it in the appropriate recycling bin so that the material can be recovered efficiently.
To make it easier to choose packaging, you can use the advanced filter located at the top of the page after clicking on the selected packaging category. In the advanced filter you can combine several parameters at once – for example neck type, size, colour or packaging material. Thanks to this, you can quickly choose a suitable bottle, jar or pot for candles, cosmetics or another product without having to go through the entire assortment.
