Amber Plastic Bottle, Silver Aluminium Cap, 18/410, 115 ml

The amber plastic medicine bottle with a 115 ml volume and an aluminium cap is ready-made packaging for your own cosmetics that need protection from light. Amber PET reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, and the plastic is lightweight and unbreakable, so the bottle copes with travel and with being sent to customers. The volume suits a typical quantity of facial toner, hydrosol, body or massage oil, hair tonic or a trial batch of liquid soap. The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.

What the set is suitable for

• Toners, hydrosols and facial waters – water-based products in which light speeds up changes in colour and scent; a dark wall slows these changes down.
• Vegetable and massage oils – oils prone to oxidation, which benefit from packaging that blocks light.
• Liquid soap, shampoo, shower gel – the narrow neck of the medicine bottle lets you dispense the contents straight from the bottle without a pump.
• Samples and smaller batches – 115 ml is enough to test a formulation before making a larger quantity, or to make a sample for a customer.

Nominal volume and filling

The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The brimful capacity is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is always larger. The difference between them is a reserve for the cap with its liner and space for the contents to expand when the temperature changes. The medicine bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you fill it to the neck, the contents are pushed out when the bottle is closed or remain trapped in the cap.

Cap and dispensing

The silver aluminium cap with a thread for the 18 mm neck has an inner EPE liner that sits on the neck of the bottle and seals the contents. Tighten the cap by hand, without force. The contents are dispensed straight from the neck by tilting the bottle in small amounts, which suits oils as well as thinner water-based products. If you build your own combination, we recommend checking the seal and dispensing with your specific formulation.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water is not visible in amber packaging and causes problems in cosmetics without sufficient preservation.

Do not pour hot mixture into PET. Leave emulsions, gels and soap bases to cool to room temperature and only then fill. Protect the packaging from heat and do not expose it to aggressive chemicals. For concentrated essential oils, undiluted fragrance compositions or solvents, we recommend testing the behaviour of the material on a small quantity before you fill the whole batch.

The medicine bottle can be reused after washing. Before each refill, check the liner in the cap for compression or damage, and the neck of the bottle for scratches on the thread. At the end of its life, the bottle belongs in plastic waste as PET and the aluminium cap separately with metals.
