Product description

The amber plastic medicine bottle with a silver aluminium cap forms a ready-to-use set for filling liquid cosmetic preparations with a volume of 100 ml. Amber PET reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, so it is especially suitable for formulations with light-sensitive ingredients: face and body oils, oil serums, toner or hydrosol for topping up, and massage blends. The plastic is light and unbreakable, which you will appreciate when travelling, in the bathroom or when sending finished products to customers.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. In addition, the bottle itself has a certificate for direct food contact, while the aluminium cap does not, so the whole assembly is intended for cosmetic use.

What it is ideal for

Oils and oil serums – the dark material slows down the effect of light, which accelerates the oxidation of vegetable oils.
Toners and hydrosols – water-based preparations without their own sprayer, which are poured or decanted into smaller packaging.
Cleansing and massage oils – a volume of 100 ml corresponds to a common pack size for home and salon use.
Samples and test batches – light packaging with a firm closure is easy to send and store.

How the set works

The cap screws onto the 18 mm neck and seals the contents with an EPE liner that sits against the rim of the neck. The bottle has no dispensing mechanism of its own, so the contents are poured or applied directly from the neck. This suits oils. For water-based preparations, consider whether a fine mist sprayer or a dropper would be more convenient for dispensing. Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The total brim-full volume is larger, because it also includes the space in the neck up to its upper edge. This difference serves as a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes, and it lets you screw the cap on safely without overflowing.

Fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you fill up to the neck, the contents reach the thread when you screw on the cap, and the cap will then not seal as well.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash and disinfect the bottle and the cap and let them dry completely. Residual water in the neck or under the cap liner would get into an anhydrous preparation and shorten its stability.

Protect the packaging from heat and do not fill it with hot contents. Let emulsions, infusions and syrup bases cool to room temperature before decanting. For undiluted essential oils, blends with a high proportion of alcohol, or solvents, we recommend testing the behaviour of the material on a small sample, or using a glass medicine bottle instead.

The set as a whole is not approved for contact with food. Only the bottle on its own has the certificate; the aluminium cap with the EPE liner does not.

After thorough washing and drying, the packaging can be reused. Before disposal, unscrew the aluminium cap: the PET bottle belongs with plastics and the metal cap with metal waste.

Does the 100 ml amber plastic medicine bottle protect the contents from light?

Yes, amber PET lets through less light than clear plastic and slows the light-accelerated oxidation of oils and active ingredients. It is not a complete barrier, however, so store filled bottles out of direct sunlight. For sensitive vegetable oils, dark packaging is more suitable than a clear bottle of the same volume.

How much actually fits into a 100 ml medicine bottle?

It is filled up to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the brim of the neck. The space above this level is a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you fill it right up to the brim, the liquid reaches the thread and the aluminium cap then does not seal as it should.

How do I prepare a plastic medicine bottle before filling, and can it be reused?

Wash and disinfect the bottle and the cap and let them dry thoroughly. Residual moisture would get into an anhydrous preparation. Once the contents are used up, the packaging can be reused after washing and drying.
