FAQ – Most frequent questions

How to correctly prepare the airless bottle before the first filling?

Before filling, it is important to clean the packaging mechanically (from dust or production residues) and then disinfect it thoroughly. For disinfection, we recommend using suitable alcohol-based preparations, for example isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. In the Handymade range you will find, for example, the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol and Ethanol 96 % denatured vegetable. After applying the alcohol, allow all parts of the packaging to dry completely at room temperature and only then fill the bottle.

Is it possible to reuse this airless bottle?

The packaging can be reused if proper hygiene principles are followed, especially in home or small-scale artisan production. However, before each new filling, it is necessary to thoroughly clean and disinfect the bottle and all detachable parts. For disinfection, we recommend using alcohol-based preparations such as IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured vegetable. After cleaning, allow all components to dry at room temperature. Reuse is not recommended if the packaging has been visibly damaged or if the functionality of the airless mechanism is impaired.

How to correctly fill this type of airless bottle so that the mechanism works reliably?

The airless system is designed to work with an evenly filled container without air bubbles. When filling, use a suitable funnel or filling aid and insert the mass into the bottle slowly in order to minimize the formation of bubbles. Do not overfill the packaging, leave a small technical reserve space according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. After closing and the first use, it may be necessary to press the pump several times until the system “primes” and the product starts to be dispensed. For thicker creams, we recommend testing the dosing in advance to verify the smooth movement of the piston.

How to recycle or dispose of the packaging safely if I do not want to use it further?

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend first emptying it as much as possible after the product has been used up and removing the residues of the preparation. Then adapt the subsequent recycling procedure to the material listed in the product parameters on the Handymade website – according to this, sort the packaging into the appropriate collection container (for example, for plastics). If the packaging is composed of several types of materials, it is advisable to separate as many components as possible (for example plastic parts, possibly decorative elements) so that the sorting corresponds to local recycling rules. In case of doubt, follow the recommendations of the local waste collection system.
