Product description
The blue glass bottle with a volume of 100 ml and a plastic pump in a glossy black and gold finish is ready-to-use packaging for cosmetics that are dispensed in small amounts and need protection from light. Blue glass reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, which you will appreciate especially with facial oils, serums and emulsions containing oils prone to oxidation or light-sensitive active ingredients. The pump dispenses approximately 0.3 ml per press, so the product does not need to be poured or scooped with fingers, and the contents of the bottle are less exposed to air and contamination during use.
The medicine bottle shape with a narrow neck stands steadily on a shelf or by the washbasin and is easy to hold in the hand. The clear overcap of the pump protects the outlet from dust and at the same time shows that the pump is clean. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products and is designed specifically for them.
What the set is suitable for
- Facial serums and fluids – liquid to slightly viscous products where a few presses are enough for one use.
- Facial and body oils – blue glass slows down the effect of light on unsaturated fatty acids, and the pump prevents spillage.
- Light creams and lotions – O/W emulsions with lower viscosity, which the pump draws up without any problem.
- Make-up removing and cleansing oils – dispensing straight into the palm is common and convenient with these products.
- Liquid soaps and cleansing gels in small packs – travel packs, samples or gift sets.
Filling and dispensing
The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume, that is, the volume for which the packaging is intended in normal filling. The brimful capacity given in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between the two values provides a reserve for the dip tube of the pump and for a slight change in the volume of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled up to the neck, part of the contents is pushed out when the pump is screwed on, or the pump cannot be tightened.
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the pump, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Moisture in the packaging could compromise the preservation of the water phase.
After the pump is screwed on, several presses are needed until the tube fills and the pump starts to dispense a full dose. This is normal with every new pump. With products of higher viscosity, such as richer creams or butters, the mechanism may jam or dispense a smaller dose.
The pump is designed for liquid and slightly viscous products. With thick creams, gels with a high proportion of thickener or scrubs containing particles, we recommend first testing whether the pump draws up the contents reliably and does not leave a residue at the bottom.
Good to know
Glass does not react with common cosmetic raw materials, including essential oils and alcohol. The pump contains plastic parts made of polypropylene and an aluminium part. With products containing a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, we recommend checking in a trial pack whether the pump material changes in appearance or affects the tightness or the operation of the mechanism.
Once empty, the bottle can be washed and used again. The pump is rinsed with warm water or diluted ethanol by immersing the tube in the cleaning solution and pumping several times. When switching to a different type of formulation, a new pump is more reliable than cleaning, especially after oil-based contents.
The glossy black and gold surface of the pump stays free of scratches if no abrasive products are used for cleaning. The glass should not be exposed to sudden temperature changes, for example by filling with a hot emulsion straight from the pot. Let the emulsion cool to at least room temperature before filling.
An empty bottle belongs in glass recycling. The pump is composite packaging made of plastic and aluminium and should be separated from the bottle before recycling.
