Product description

The set of a glass bottle shaped like a medicine vial and a black cream pump dispenser is designed for facial serums, eye creams, light creams and fluid emulsions in smaller volumes, where an accurate dose and hygienic dispensing matter. With each press, the dispenser with a dip tube delivers a small, repeatable amount of the contents, and the fingers do not touch the product. Amber glass dims light and protects ingredients that lose their effectiveness faster in light, for example vitamins, vegetable oils or some extracts. Both the bottle and the dispenser are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics; the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products.

Why choose this particular set

  • Protection from light – amber glass lets through less light than clear glass, which slows the degradation of sensitive ingredients and helps keep the product's colour and scent for longer.
  • Hygienic dispensing – the contents are dispensed without opening the packaging and without reaching into a jar, so impurities from the hands do not get into the product. Formulations with gentler preservation will benefit from this in particular.
  • Small, accurate dose – the dispenser delivers a tiny amount per press, which suits concentrated serums and eye creams, where only a few drops or a small „pea“ are applied.
  • Inert glass – glass does not react with the contents and is also suitable for formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or alcohol, which can soften some plastics over time.
  • Matched combination – the bottle and the dispenser fit together, so you do not have to pick a closure or check whether it will seal.

What products the set is suitable for

It works best with liquid to creamy products that are dispensed in small amounts: facial serums on both water and emulsion bases, eye creams, light day and night creams, fluids, facial lotions for the face or the décolleté area, or more liquid hydrating gels without solid particles. It also handles light facial oils, but with very runny oils it is advisable to check whether the dispenser drips after pressing.

It is less suitable for thick balms, butters and solid creams, which the dispenser cannot draw up through the dip tube, and for products with exfoliating or plant particles that would clog the mechanism. Thin water-based toners can be dispensed, but for those a spray pump usually makes more sense.

How the cream pump dispenser works

The dispenser draws the contents through the dip tube from the bottom of the bottle, so before the first use it needs to be pressed several times until the mechanism fills and starts dispensing evenly. This is a standard, not an airless system: air enters the bottle during dispensing and a small residue remains at the bottom that the dip tube no longer reaches. With products sensitive to oxidation, take this into account when choosing the antioxidant and the preservation.

Whether the dispenser will work reliably is determined by the product's consistency. The formulation should be liquid to creamy and free of particles. With thicker creams, a slight reduction in the proportion of thickener or a switch to a lighter emulsifying system helps. Verify the behaviour on a small test sample before you fill the whole batch.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold during standard filling. Total capacity to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them provides clearance for the pump tube, which takes up part of the space, and allows for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If filled to the brim, tightening the pump dispenser would force the contents out through the neck and the assembly would not seal properly.

Preparation and filling

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. For the dispenser, it is enough to rinse it with warm water and let it dry. It can be disinfected too, but let the alcohol air out well from the mechanism. Fill in the cooled mass, screw the dispenser on firmly but without force, and prime the mechanism with a few presses. You will find the dimensions for the label in the parameters. The smooth cylindrical body of the vial is easy to label; apply the label to dry, degreased glass.

Do not fill the bottle with hot mass. Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature differences well and may crack, and hot contents can also damage the plastic parts of the dispenser. Let emulsions cool to room temperature before filling.

What is good to know

  • Food contact – the glass bottle on its own has certification for direct food contact. The set with the dispenser as a whole is intended for cosmetics; no food use is stated for it.
  • Plastic and strong ingredients – the dispenser is made of polypropylene, which tolerates common cosmetic formulations well. With fills that have a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, we recommend checking the mechanism's behaviour on a sample.
  • Other closures – closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. With your own combination, we recommend checking the seal, the dispensing and the packaging's behaviour with the specific formulation.
  • Reuse – the bottle can be used again after washing and disinfection. The dispenser is harder to clean, as product residues remain in the dip tube and the mechanism, so when changing the formulation it makes sense to replace it with a new one.
  • Recycling – before disposal, separate the dispenser from the bottle. Glass goes in the glass, and the dispenser is sorted as plastic.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 30 ml glass bottle with a cream pump dispenser suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is not declared for food contact. The glass bottle on its own has certification for direct food contact, the plastic cream pump dispenser does not. The set is therefore intended for cosmetic products such as serums, creams and facial lotions. If you need packaging for food use, choose a bottle with a closure that has food certification in the same way as the glass.
Does the amber glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, amber glass dims the penetration of light better than clear glass. It thus helps protect light-sensitive ingredients, for example vitamins, retinol, vegetable oils or some extracts, from a faster loss of effectiveness and a change in colour. However, it does not replace antioxidants or proper preservation. Full protection from light is provided only by storage out of direct sunlight.
How thick a cream can the cream pump dispenser with a dip tube handle?
The dispenser handles liquid to creamy products that can be drawn up through the dip tube from the bottom of the bottle. It works well with serums, fluids, facial lotions and light to medium-thick creams. It will not draw up thick balms, butters and products with solid particles, or it will clog. With thicker formulations, reducing the proportion of thickener helps, and a test on a small sample is always recommended.
How much product is filled into a bottle with a nominal volume of 30 ml?
It is filled to the nominal volume stated in the name, not to the brim. The remaining space below the neck is a reserve for the dispenser's dip tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the dispenser will push the contents out after being screwed on and the set will not seal.
Can the bottle with a cream pump dispenser be reused?
Yes, the glass bottle can be reused without restriction after washing, disinfection with alcohol and drying. The cream pump dispenser is less suitable for reuse, because product residues remain in the dip tube and the mechanism and cannot be removed reliably. For a new fill of the same product, rinsing with warm water is enough; when changing the formulation we recommend a new dispenser.
Is the bottle with a cream pump dispenser also suitable for facial oil?
Yes, light facial oils can be dispensed with the dispenser, and the amber glass protects them from light at the same time. However, very runny oils may drip from the dispenser after pressing, so we recommend verifying the behaviour on a sample. If you want to apply the oil drop by drop, the same bottle with a dropper is more suitable for pure oils.
