Product description

Gluadin Kera-P LM is a “vegan keratin” – in practice, it is a hydrolyzed plant protein. It is produced by enzymatic or acid hydrolysis of plant proteins into smaller peptides and amino acids, which makes it better suited for use in cosmetics: the “heaviness” of the protein is reduced, compatibility with aqueous systems is improved and it is easier to incorporate into hair and skin care formulations.
In products, it acts mainly as a film-forming and conditioning ingredient – it helps hair and skin create a fine protective film that improves the sensory feel to the touch and supports a well-groomed appearance.

Key benefits

  • Conditioning effect – improves slip, softness and manageability of the hair.
  • Film-forming action – helps reduce the feeling of roughness and supports a smoother surface of the hair fibre.
  • Shine enhancement – with proper dosage, it can enhance the optical shine of the hair.
  • Hydrating contribution – protein peptides and amino acids support water binding in the superficial layers.
  • Vegan alternative to classic animal-derived keratins in hair care.

Suitable for products such as

  • Shampoos and mild cleansing hair gels.
  • Conditioners, hair masks and balms.
  • Leave-in sprays, creams and serums for the lengths.
  • Styling products (creams, gels) – to support film formation and smoothing.
  • Facial and body care products (creams, lotions) – as a supportive conditioning ingredient.

Use in formulation

  • Soluble in: water and aqueous phases; suitable for aqueous and emulsion systems.
  • Compatible with: common surfactants and conditioning ingredients; performs best in products with appropriate viscosity.
  • Recommended dosage: typically 0,5–5 % depending on the product type (lower levels for shampoos, higher for masks and leave-in products).
  • Technological tip: at higher usage levels it can increase the “firmness” of the film and feel heavier on fine hair – adjust the dosage according to the hair type and the rest of the formula.

Safety and storage

  • Avoid contact with eyes; in case of eye contact, rinse with water.
  • For sensitive skin, we recommend testing the finished product first on a small area.
  • Store in a well-closed container, away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.
  • Work hygienically and minimize contamination during dosing into formulations.

FAQ

Is “vegan keratin” actually keratin?

It is not an animal keratin. It is a hydrolyzed plant protein that mimics the conditioning and film-forming effect of keratin-based ingredients in hair care products.

Can it be combined with cationic conditioning agents (e.g. quaternary ammonium compounds)?

Yes, in practice it is often combined with conditioning systems. It is recommended to carry out a simple stability and sensorial test (appearance, precipitation, viscosity) at the final pH.

For which hair types is it more suitable – fine or coarse hair?

It is suitable for all hair types, but fine hair usually requires a lower dosage. At higher levels, the film can feel heavier, so it is advisable to adjust the percentages according to the product’s target.

Will the protein affect the foaming of the shampoo?

At typical usage levels, the impact is small, but higher percentages may slightly change the foam feel. Fine-tuning the surfactant system or adding foam-boosting ingredients can help.

Can it also be used in solid hair care products?

Yes, it can be incorporated into solid shampoos or solid conditioners if the formula contains a phase in which it can be evenly dispersed (or if it is added at the correct technological step).
