Product description
The green glass bottle with a black and gold glossy pump and a clear overcap is a ready-made set for filling serums, facial and body oils, light emulsions and liquid soaps in a volume of 100 ml. The pump dispenses the same dose with every press. The contents therefore do not touch your fingers and come into contact with air less than with an open neck, which you will appreciate especially with oil blends and serums containing active ingredients. The green glass limits the amount of light reaching the contents, and you can also see how much product is left when you hold the bottle up to the light.
The bottle has the shape of a medicine bottle with a narrow 18 mm neck, stands firmly and is easy to hold even with wet hands. The pump combines black plastic with a glossy gold ring and a clear overcap that protects the head from dust. The whole set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics, and you will find the declarations of conformity for both components with the product.
What the set is suitable for
- Serums and facial oils – the pump releases small amounts, exactly as much as is applied to the face.
- Light emulsions and facial lotions – liquid and semi-liquid textures pass through the dip tube without difficulty.
- Liquid soaps and cleansing gels in a smaller pack – for example for a guest sink or as a sample of a larger pack.
- Massage and body oils for travel – the 100 ml pack fits into a bag.
The set is not suitable for thick creams, butters and balms. A thick product cannot be drawn up through the dip tube, and the pump jams or dispenses unevenly. For such products we recommend a jar or container.
Dispensing and filling
One press releases approximately 0.3 ml. With a serum, one or two presses are therefore enough for one use, and with a body oil proportionally more. After the first filling, the pump needs to be pressed several times without product until the dip tube draws up the contents and starts to push out the product.
The length of the pump dip tube is adapted to this bottle so that as much of the contents as possible can be used. A small residue always remains at the very bottom that the pump can no longer draw up. With oils, the rest can be pumped out by tilting the bottle.
Fill to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the neck. The pump body and the dip tube need the space above the liquid level. If the bottle is overfilled, the contents overflow when the pump is screwed on.
The nominal volume is the volume the packaging is intended for under normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and you will find it in the parameters. The difference is a reserve for the closure and for possible expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Rinse the pump by pressing it several times in a container of clean water, and then leave it to dry freely with the dip tube facing down.
Glass can be reused without limit, as long as it is washed thoroughly. The pump is more demanding to reuse. After oil or emulsion contents, residues remain in the dip tube and in the pump body and cannot be cleaned perfectly. When you change the product, we therefore recommend replacing at least the pump. With the same product, it is enough to rinse with warm water with a drop of liquid soap and then with ethanol.
The pump is made of polypropylene and aluminium. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, or for strongly alcoholic tinctures, we recommend testing how the pump behaves with your specific recipe on one piece before you fill the whole batch.
The set is not approved for contact with food. For homemade oils, syrups or infusions intended for consumption, choose packaging with the appropriate certificate.
Green glass reduces the effect of light, but it does not offer the same protection as amber glass. For raw materials that are particularly sensitive to light, such as some vitamin serums or oils prone to yellowing, consider an amber bottle or storage out of direct sunlight. Do not put a glass bottle with water-based contents in the freezer and do not pour hot phases into it directly from a water bath. A sudden change of temperature may crack it.
Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations of this bottle can be found in the Handymade range. If you put together your own combination, we recommend testing the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation. For recycling, separate the pump from the glass bottle. Glass belongs with glass, and the pump is a combined plastic and metal product.
