Epsom salt – magnesium sulfate, chemically pure is a universal raw material suitable for filling into various packaging for cosmetic and wellness products. The finely crystalline structure allows easy pouring into bottles, vials, jars and pots, while maintaining stability and quality during storage. A suitably chosen packaging protects Epsom salt from moisture, contamination and loss of functional properties, making it ideal for packing finished products as well as final consumer packages.
With a properly chosen closure, the contents can be conveniently dosed while minimizing contact with the environment. This type of product is particularly suitable for cosmetic formulators, artisanal manufacturers and smaller brands who are looking for reliable packaging for free-flowing and crystalline blends, bath salts, scrubs or composite products.
Packaging intended for Epsom salt is compatible with various types of closures and dosing methods according to the selected parameters. In practice, the most commonly used are screw closures, jar lids, flip-top closures or larger threaded closures that allow comfortable scooping of the salt by hand or with a spoon. Combinations of packaging and closures that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional.
For all combinations, however, we always recommend performing your own compatibility test – checking the sealing, handling during opening and closing, as well as the behavior of the packaging in contact with the specific blend (for example when oils or extracts are added).

To choose suitable packaging for Epsom salt, we recommend using the advanced filter, which you can find at the top of the page after clicking on the relevant packaging category. Using the filter, you can easily select the required neck, size, color and material of the packaging. This way you can quickly display only those bottles, jars, pots or vials that best match your product and the dosing method.
For packing Epsom salt, wider jars, pots or containers with a wide neck are most often used in practice, as they allow easy scooping of the salt by hand or with a spoon. If you prefer pouring directly from the packaging, bottles with a narrower neck and screw closure may also be a suitable choice. When choosing, it is important to consider whether the salt will be used in a bathroom, in a salon or as refill packaging, so that the packaging corresponds to the usual way of use.
After using up the Epsom salt, you can, while observing hygiene principles, safely reuse the packaging, for example for another batch of salt or other free-flowing products. Before each new filling, however, the packaging must be thoroughly cleaned and subsequently disinfected. For disinfection we recommend using products such as IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96% denatured plant-based. Only after the packaging has completely dried is it suitable to proceed with refilling in order to minimize the risk of introducing moisture or microbial contamination.
Epsom salt is sensitive to ambient humidity, therefore it is important to store it in packaging that can be reliably closed. It is recommended to keep the packaging in a dry and cooler place, away from direct exposure to steam in the bathroom or kitchen. After each use, the packaging must be carefully closed to prevent water from entering. For larger packages, it is practical to pour part of the salt into a smaller container for regular use and keep the rest well sealed as storage packaging.
If you decide not to reuse the packaging after using up the Epsom salt, it is advisable to recycle it according to the material type given in the parameters of the specific product on the website. After emptying the packaging, remove any salt residues, optionally rinse it, and place it clean in the correct separate collection stream (plastic, glass, paper, etc.), in accordance with local recycling rules. This minimizes environmental impact and allows the packaging material to be used again in the recycling process.
When combining Epsom salt with vegetable oils or liquid extracts, blends are created that may have different viscosity and behavior compared to pure salt. In such a case, it is practical to choose packaging with a wider neck so that the blend can be easily scooped and so that the outer part of the closure does not get contaminated with oil. We also recommend performing your own compatibility test – checking whether the blend sticks to the thread, whether it flows or scoops well, and whether the packaging can be easily cleaned for possible repeated use.
