Cotton wick for tealight candles is intended for professional and hobby production of small candles in various types of packaging and containers. Thanks to stable burning and the natural structure of cotton, it is suitable for poured candles in tins, glass jars, smaller pots or decorative containers. The wick ensures even combustion of the wax, thereby supporting clean burning and comfortable use of the finished candle in both home and professional environments.
The cotton wick is intended for use in various types of candle containers and pots and does not require separate closures or dispensers. When combining candle containers with lids or protective covers, we recommend always checking whether the finished candle has sufficient space for safe burning and whether the packaging does not restrict air access to the flame. For each new combination of packaging, wax and wick, we recommend carrying out your own compatibility test – in particular monitoring the burning process, the formation of wax residues on the walls of the container and the behaviour of the wick throughout the entire burning time.
All technical parameters of the packaging are given in the attached Packaging quality certificate and in the product parameters.
The length of the cotton wick should correspond to the height of the container so that after the wax has solidified and after the first trimming, the wick remains approximately 3–5 mm above the surface of the candle. A shorter wick may cause a weak flame, an excessively long one excessive smoking. We recommend first making a test candle in the specific bottle, pot or jar and then slightly adjusting the length according to the result.
The cotton wick is generally suitable for most commonly used waxes for tealight candles. For blended or special wax compositions, we recommend creating a trial series in the same type of packaging in which you plan the final product. Monitor the burning process, the evenness of wax melting and the flame height. According to the result, you can adjust the container size, the amount of wax or the method of fixing the wick.
Yes, suitable candle containers and pots can be reused if hygiene principles are observed. Before refilling, the packaging must be thoroughly cleaned of wax residues and impurities and then disinfected, for example using the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. After the container has completely dried, you can insert a new wick and pour in the wax. Always check that the packaging is not cracked, deformed or otherwise damaged.
It is advisable to fix the wick in the centre of the bottom of the container so that the candle burns evenly and the wax melts across the entire surface. You can use adhesive dots for wicks, a thin layer of melted wax or a suitable wick holder. During wax pouring, check that the wick remains taut and perpendicular to the bottom of the packaging. After the wax has solidified, trim it to the recommended length before the first lighting.
If you decide not to reuse pots or other packaging from tealight candles, we recommend cleaning them of wax residues and placing them in sorted waste according to the material specified in the parameters of the specific product on Handymade. Metal packaging belongs in metal waste, glass containers in glass waste and plastic packaging in the relevant plastic container. By following these rules, you support responsible recycling and a reduction in the amount of waste.
To select a suitable bottle, pot or jar, you can use the extended filter located at the top of the page after clicking on the selected packaging category. In the extended filter, you can easily set the required parameters, such as neck type, size, colour and packaging material. In this way, you will quickly find the combination that best corresponds to the type of product and the intended method of use.
