Product description

Stabilo cotton wick is a specialized packaging component designed for the safe and reliable burning of wax refills in candles of various shapes and sizes. Thanks to the high-quality cotton fiber, it is suitable for poured, loose and gel waxes, where it ensures a stable flame and even burning of the fill without excessive smoking. It represents an ideal solution for homemade candles, decorative products and smaller design series where consistent burn quality and a professional final appearance of the product are important.

Possibilities of use

  • Handmade candles from natural waxes (soy, beeswax, rapeseed) as well as paraffin blends
  • Scented and massage candles in tins, jars and containers suitable for contact with wax
  • Decorative candles in bottles, small glasses and design containers according to the creative concept
  • Candles containing essential oils and aromatic blends where stable burning is required
  • Multiple wax pouring during the production of layered candles in original packaging solutions

Packaging advantages

  • Material stability – the high-quality cotton fiber is designed so that with the correct wick length it supports even burning and efficient use of the wax fill.
  • Optimal protection of the contents – a properly selected wick minimizes smoking and overheating of the container walls, thus contributing to the safe use of candles in bottles, tins or small glasses.
  • Universal use – suitable for a wide range of waxes and containers, from smaller decorative candles in glass or metal jars up to larger candles in design packaging.
  • Professional result – with correct sizing of the wick to the container diameter, an even melt pool of the surface, a clean flame and aesthetic burning without tunneling are achieved.

Combining with closures and dispensers

  • The cotton wick is used in combination with various types of containers – glass bottles, metal tins, ceramic jars or other heat-resistant containers intended for candles.
  • When selecting a suitable packaging, we recommend monitoring the recommended container diameter and wax type to ensure the correct flame intensity and safe burning.
  • Combinations of packaging and components that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend performing your own compatibility test (flame behavior, wax burning, temperature of the container walls during burning).

Technical parameters

  • All technical parameters of the packaging are listed in the attached Packaging Quality Certificate and in the product parameters.
  • Before final installation of the wick into the selected packaging, we recommend testing the suitable length, method of fixation and container diameter for the specific wax and fragrance type.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions

How do I choose the right cotton wick for the size of my candle container?

When choosing a wick, the container diameter, wax type and amount of fragrance are important. We recommend making a test pour of the candle in the selected tin or bottle and observing the flame behavior – ideally, after several hours of burning, a continuous wax surface forms without tunneling and without excessive smoking. If necessary, it is advisable to choose a thinner or thicker wick depending on the test result.

Is it possible to use the wick again after the candle has burned out in the same container?

The wick itself is intended for single use, but the container, tin or bottle can be reused if hygiene principles are observed. Before refilling, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the packaging from wax residues and impurities and then disinfect it using a suitable alcohol, for example IPA or ethanol (products ALK001 / ALK002). For disinfection, the preparations IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol and Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based are intended. After thorough cleaning and disinfection, you can refill the container with wax and fit a new wick.

How can I ensure that the wick remains in the center of the container during pouring and solidification of the wax?

To stabilize the wick, you can use self-adhesive or metal tabs, or holders that are placed on the bottom of the container. The upper part of the wick is fixed using a holder on the rim of the container or by simply fastening it into a clip or skewer placed across the rim. It is important that the wick remains in the center and in a vertical position during wax solidification, thus ensuring even burning around the entire circumference of the candle.

How can I safely dispose of or recycle the packaging if I decide not to reuse it?

After the candle has burned out, remove the remaining wax and the metal or other wick components from the container. The wick itself and its remnants belong in mixed household waste. The container (bottle, tin or jar) should be recycled according to the type of material listed in the parameters of the specific packaging on the site – glass in the glass container, metal packaging in metal collection, etc. For each packaging, follow the recycling recommendations resulting from the material composition specified in the product parameter table.

You offer many types of packaging – how can I find the right one for my product?

For easier selection of packaging, you can use the advanced filter, which is located at the top of the page after clicking on a specific packaging category. In the advanced filter, you can clearly sort products according to several parameters, for example according to neck type, size, color or material. Thanks to this, you will quickly find a suitable bottle, tin or jar for your candle, cosmetic or other creative product.
