The STABILO cotton wick represents a high-quality solution for candle production in small series as well as in artisanal manufacturing. It is intended for professional use in combination with various types of waxes, where it ensures a stable flame, even burning and reliable burn-through of the candle without significant smoking when correctly dosed and when a suitable candle diameter is chosen.
Thanks to its construction and high-quality workmanship, the wick is suitable for poured candles in containers, bottles, decorative jars as well as in design packaging intended for candles made of natural or paraffin waxes. The cotton structure of the wick enables reliable uptake of the molten wax, which translates into efficient and predictable burning of the candle.
In candle production, the STABILO cotton wick is typically combined with appropriately selected containers, bottles, jars and other packaging material that is heat-resistant and intended for pouring wax. When using bottles and vials with closures (for example for transporting finished candles or for storing raw materials), these packs are compatible with various types of closures and dosing systems according to the selected parameters on Handymade – for example screw caps, droppers, spray heads or practical applicators for liquid ingredients used in production (fragrances, oils, etc.).
Combinations of packs and closures that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test – checking sealing, dosing and the behaviour of the packaging in contact with the specific formulation (wax, oils, aromatic blends), as well as under real conditions of use of the final candle.

The choice of wick depends on the candle diameter, wax type and the amount of fragrance or colourant used. We recommend first selecting the wick size according to the recommendations of the wax manufacturer or according to common practice for the given diameter, and then carrying out a test pour – check the width of the wax pool, flame height and smoking after several hours of burning. Depending on the result, it may be appropriate to narrow the wick or to choose a more robust type. All essential technical data for this wick can be found in the product parameters and in the enclosed packaging quality certificate.
Yes, you can reuse a suitable container, bottle or jar after the candle has burned down, provided that hygiene and safety principles are observed. First remove wax residues mechanically, then wash the packaging thoroughly and clean and disinfect it before refilling. For disinfection we recommend using isopropyl alcohol IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or plant-based ethanol Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. After complete drying you can refill the pack with wax and install a new wick, and it is advisable to perform a burn test again.
If you decide not to reuse the container, bottle or jar for the candle, we recommend recycling it according to the material type specified in the product parameters. Remove wax residues mechanically to reduce contamination of the packaging and then sort the packaging into the appropriate container according to the material (for example glass, plastic, metal). Specific recycling instructions and material symbols can always be found in the parameter table for the given product on Handymade.sk. In this way you support proper waste processing and sustainable use of packaging materials.
The STABILO cotton wick is also suitable for scented candles, however with a higher fragrance load it is essential to perform burn tests, because fragrances and essential oils affect the burning behaviour. Start with the standard recommended fragrance dosage for the given wax and monitor flame behaviour, smoking, formation of deposits on the glass and the evenness of the wax pool. If necessary, adjust the wick size or slightly modify the fragrance proportion in order to achieve stable and safe candle performance.

Thanks to the combination of these filters, you will quickly find a pack that matches your formulation, candle style and desired design. We then recommend performing a burn test in the selected container using this wick in order to verify the suitability of the whole combination in practice.
