Wooden wick represents a modern and design-oriented solution for candle making, combining the aesthetics of a natural material with practical functionality. Thanks to its shape and stable burning, it is suitable for poured candles in glass, smaller containers and decorative jars. With a properly selected wax blend, the wick ensures even burning and clean burnout of the candle without excessive smoking.
The wooden wick is popular for its gentle crackling reminiscent of a fireplace, which gives candles a premium character and creates a pleasant atmosphere. It is suitable for natural and blended waxes, where, with proper calibration of the candle diameter and wax composition, it supports a stable flame and professional results for both home and artisanal candle production.
The choice of wooden wick depends mainly on the container diameter, wax type and amount of fragrance used. We recommend starting by testing a smaller series of candles with different combinations of diameter and wax type, and then monitoring the flame height, wax melting rate and burnout up to the edge of the container. A correctly selected wick ensures even burning without excessive smoking and tunnelling of the candle.
The wooden wick is usually used in combination with a metal or other suitable holder, which is attached to the bottom of the container and fixed in the centre. Before pouring the wax, it is recommended to secure the wick firmly so that it remains in the centre of the container and does not move during wax cooling. Some manufacturers prefer briefly “soaking” the wick in wax and then curing it; however, it is always important to adapt the procedure to the specific type of wax and candle design.
The wooden wick can also be used in more intensely fragranced candles; however, it is necessary to take into account that a higher proportion of fragrance may affect burning. For highly fragranced blends, we recommend making several test pours, monitoring flame stability and adjusting the length and type of wick so that the candle burns safely and without excessive smoking.
Containers in which candles have been poured can be reused if hygiene and safety principles are followed. Before refilling, it is necessary to remove wax residues, check the integrity of the container and then clean and disinfect it thoroughly. For disinfection, we recommend using a suitable alcohol-based product, such as isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, available in our range on the pages IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. Only after thoroughly cleaning and drying the container is it possible to insert a new wooden wick and fill it with wax again.
If you decide not to reuse the container after the candle has burned out, we recommend recycling it according to the material specified for the particular packaging in the product parameters on our website. Wax residues and wick components should be mechanically removed and the container cleaned. Glass packaging is usually placed in sorted glass collection; for other materials (e.g. metal lids or plastic components), proceed according to the relevant recycling symbol given in the technical parameters of the given packaging.
To make it easier to select packaging, you can use the advanced filter located at the top of the page after clicking on the relevant packaging category. Within the filter, products can be sorted according to several parameters, such as neck type and size, overall packaging size, colour and material used. Thanks to this, you can quickly find a bottle, jar or pot that best suits your project and is also suitable for combination with wooden wicks in candle making.
