Yes, the glass bottle is suitable for most common cosmetic formulations on an oil and water basis. Glass is a material with high chemical resistance, which usually does not react with emulsions, hydrolysates or vegetable oils. However, for formulas with a high content of essential oils or alcohol, we recommend making a test sample and monitoring the behaviour of the packaging and closure over time.

The packaging can be reused if hygiene principles and appropriate care are observed. Before each new filling, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the bottle and the closure and then disinfect them, for example using isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For this purpose, you can use the products IPA 99 – isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured vegetable. Only after complete drying and airing is the packaging ready for new filling.

We recommend preparing a smaller test amount of the product, filling one bottle with it and closing it thoroughly. Then monitor the tightness of the closure, any changes in the appearance of the glass or cap, and the behaviour of the product during normal use (turning, carrying, storage). Pay particular attention to any leakage, changes in the colour of the metal closure or changes in the scent of the product. It is advisable to carry out the test at different temperatures that may realistically occur during storage.

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, its recycling is recommended according to the material specified in the product parameters. The glass part can usually be handed over to a container intended for glass after removing product residues, the metal closure belongs to the appropriate collection of metal packaging according to local rules. Before recycling, we recommend rinsing the bottle to minimise product residues in the waste stream. Always adapt the specific sorting method to the information on the packaging and the local waste collection system.
